Re: Roku domain trademark infringement emails?

Points well taken, but looking around - there are examples of other developers (for example, Axuretrainer.net), using a domain relating to a specific brand. Like many independent developers, I don't have the resources to get a lawyer involved, otherwise I'd argue that Roku's action is questionable. ...

Re: Roku domain trademark infringement emails?

RokuDeveloper isn't a mashup but a description, just like MercedesSalesman.com, and I don't see Mercedes banning that. In any event, the email suggests contacting them to discuss, and they're not responding.

Re: Roku domain trademark infringement emails?

If I put MM-ROKU.COM into a web browser it takes me to roku.com. I guess they could be using forwarding to do this? All very odd. The MM company looks legit, would they be contracted by Roku? (though their name doesn't appear on the list of famous companies it works for) My question if this were the...

Re: Roku domain trademark infringement emails?

Thanks, good idea (any moderators listening who'd like to PM me to help sort this out?). I didn't think a domain name like rokudeveloper.com would be a problem, but apparently that's not the case. The sad thing is that were parked at GoDaddy pending me getting my developer website up and running, wh...

Roku domain trademark infringement emails?

I just got a letter from mm-roku.com regarding a few domains relating to my roku dev work that are parked at GoDaddy.com. Apparently Godaddy sticks advertising on parked domains. Anyone know if this is legitimate entity (mm-roku.com)? Anyone else get anything like this? There was absolutely no conta...

Anyone have any updates on this, could really use this with my kids? Hate TWC with a passion and looking forward to the first OTT TV service.

Re: youtube channel frustration

Yeah, have the youtube channel running on a roku 2 and a roku 3. Really, pretty bad show - way too heavyweight, sluggish and it crashed on me. The unofficial YouTube channel (nowhereman's?) that's not available unless you already downloaded it is very usable, this new, official one isn't. Gives me a...

Re: Cutting the cord: comparing Roku to Amazon Fire TV

Comparing the two, it seems to me that Roku doesn't have a whole lot to worry about at this stage. The packaging for the Fire TV is exquisite, kind of like the way Apple puts a lot of effort into the way they package things. The process of getting it working was fine and they include a (somewhat tim...

Re: Marmalade dev for Roku

Partners [at] roku.com gets a massive amount of valid email and also spam, so it is possible your message was accidentally missed, suggest you resend.l . Joel, if Partners [at] roku.com gets a massive amount of email, why not set up an autoresponder to say: "Thank you for your interest, we'll ...

Re: Marmalade dev for Roku

Thanks very much for the info, I wasn't aware the platform mostly doesn't support OpenGL. Unfortunately, partners[at]roku.com apparently points to /dev/null; has anyone even gotten an acknowledgment from mailing there? From the post you pointed to: "OpenGL support was removed (since it wasn't p...

Marmalade dev for Roku

I'm interested in using Marmalade; this seems to be a practical way to a better looking interface and get low level access (I want to use OpenGL for an educational app). With Apple possibly opening up AppleTV with some kind of support for the app store, it would be great to use the same code base fr...

Re: Airplay support for the Roku

wow! did a google search for airplay and Roku and found this thread. I installed the channel, and have it running iTunes U like a champ from my iPad 1 (older iOS version). Thanks so much for making this channel. I also tried it with Lynda.com ipad app with no luck. Presumably that's copy protected. ...

Re: Public API to list Roku channels?

^ What he said. I'd be very unhappy if all of my private channels were discoverable. -JT By default, they should not be discoverable but being discoverable should be an option. Then, I'm probably the only one here who thinks a channel API is essential for Roku to thrive, as is a software-only ROKU ...
