as are compatibility with higher bitrate HD streams. Not trying to disagree with your accessment of the situation in general, but the HD1000 is compatible with hgher bitrate streams. In fact it can handle higher bitrate streams than most people will ever encounter and can handle much higher bitrate...

The fact that it can handle/display real 19.2 Mbps HD video and doesn't need some half-baked server software are the two features that just keep me coming back again and again. It can handle bitrates much higher than 19.2Mbps, which is what separates it from any of the other similar products that c...

I believe compact flash devices can function in 2 different modes. In the first mode they function as a storage device very much like an ATA harddisk and if I'm not mistaken I believe they even use the same or similar commands and signals like an ATA hard disk. That's why it's relatively easy to get...

Improved SMB streaming performance is something that will be greatly appreciated by many including myself. As for Http streaming I have used Tsreader to send transport stream in the 30 - 40 mbit range to my HD1000 and it can play them flawlessy. So, the networking performance of SMB shares is defini...

The power supply is made by U-San a Tawainese electronics firm. The model is a UP-28. I sent them an email inquiring about buying the supply and have received no response. I have not been able to locate a US dealer of the supply, probably is not one. Perhaps Roku could tell us if there is one and h...

Why I bought HD1000 instead of linkplayer

While the Avel linkplayer looks interesting and if subtitles are that important to you then perhaps the linkplayer was a better choice for you, I looked at the linkplayer myself and decide against purchasing it. My concern with the linkplayer was whether it could handle high bitrate HD mpeg2 transpo...

Re: how to fix it!

My Roku also died after the warranty period so I had to fix it myself. If you are good with electronic the read on otherwise STOP here and just buy another unit… The most probable cause of failure is the power supply that is in the box. There is a 6A fast blow fuse already on the power supply boa...

The HD1000 can also play HD video at pretty high bitrates. I know from personal experience it can handle transport streams at upto 45Mbit/sec. I doubt the mac mini has the horsepower to handle anything like that by itself.

Does it play HDTV (mpeg2) flawlessly? I remember reading that it is limited to 16 mbit/sec. I'm staying true to Roku, but competition never hurts. It can only help get HD1k even better. If it can only do 16Mbit then as far as I'm concerned it's no competition whatsoever to the Hd1000. This past wee...

There is a known issue with the USB driver performance on the NSLU2.

But the problem with that explanation is I can play the files directly from the NSLU2 just fine on my PC using either VLC or a MyHD card. So, the performance of the NSLU2 couldn't be the problem.

poor SMB implementation needs to be fixed!!!

I rececntly picked up a linksys Network Storage Link with usb 2 and connected a usb2 harddrive to it. Anyway, my network consist of the HD1000, the linksys Network storage link, and my main system all connected to an SMC gigabit switch. My main system has an Intel gigabit adapter connected to the sw...

I think a large part of the problem might be people wanting the photobridge to do things it's not designed to do. The photobridge hardware is mainly desinged for displaying pictures and decoding Mpeg2 HD transport streams and these things it does fairly well. I agree there are a few rough edges on t...

My understanding is they are HDTV transport stream files. HDTV transport stream files generally have either .tp, .trp, or .ts as their extension.

I believe there might be some sample clips here. http://www.fusionhdtv.co.kr/Eng/Download/DEMO.aspx?ct=DEMO perhaps someone else will know of others. Many of our retailers are mograting to selling the Gallery collection (HD1500) exclusively. I can corroborate this. I called my local Tweeter this past weekend hoping to be able to locate a revision B HD1000 locally, and I was told the HD1000 was no longer sold by them and that in the future instea...
