Re: Roku Model:4640X Black screen after reboot. Roku Ultra

You don't need a 4k TV (in fact, you probably don't want to hook it up to one). Dale is suggesting you connect it to any other TV and it should default to auto-detect and then you should be able to connect it back to the original TV.

Re: Sizing a Poster from a larger image

Have you tried adding ui_resolutions=hd to your manifest?  You should be able to just design for HD and let the firmware handle scaling for other resolutions.

Re: Roku Ultra Standby Mode?

I believe the LED being off is merely an indication that a screen saver is active and is not an indication of any kind of low power mode (if such a thing exists).

Re: Spectrum app on Roku Express Plus closes when selecting a channel

Sounds like a bug in the Spectrum app. I know nothing about it, but I'm wondering if there was a recent update to the app. It appears that it's crashing if the Roku display settings are set to one of the SD options. Your best bet is probably to take it up with Spectrum.

Re: Dash format videos not properly grabbing duration

I know nothing about PlayReady, DASH, or MPDs, but I'd be willing to bet that video.duration should be an integer representing the duration in seconds.  1.844674407371e+16 seconds is many, many, millennia.

You're welcome!  And Merry Christmas to you!

By the way, you should really direct your thanks/frustration at Matt and Mark. It's their game; I only coded it for the Roku.

Re: annoying display at the bottom of whatever I'm watching.

It's coming from your TV, not the Roku. At least post the model of your TV, Roku, and how you have them connected.

Re: Referencing function in non-component module from another non-component module

I would have to also include http.brs explictly like so?  <script type = "text/brightscript" uri="pkg:/source/http.brs"/> <script type = "text/brightscript" uri="pkg:/source/api.brs"/> I believe that is the only way to do it. -JT

Re: Task XML Blocks

My understanding of how tasks operate is limited at best and I've only used the control field to start a task (setting it to "RUN").  I assume you're trying to use the third development use case: ⋅ A Task node observes its input <interface> fields using the port form of the ifSGN...

Re: Task subroutine

afaik you should put the sub in a separate file (eg "mySubs.brs") and include it from your task's XML; something like: <script type="text/brightscript" uri="pkg:/source/mySubs.brs" /> Ah, that's it!  Sorry greubel.  I knew I was calling subroutines in other source file...

Re: My Media - Your Music and Video on the Roku DVP

Try this one: https://my.roku.com/add/mymediabeta It's been a while, so I don't remember the details, but when you launch the channel it tries to do some sort of rendezvous to locate the server. I never really liked how it worked and I'm not sure the rendezvous server is still operating. I don't see...

Yes. I believe you can call any subroutine in any file in your source directory.

Re: My Media - Your Music and Video on the Roku DVP

It's safe. It's just trying to tell you that you shouldn't run the server code on a computer connected directly to the Internet. No one in their right mind would expose their computer that way and if you're using a Roku you must already have a router that acts as a firewall. Your Roku and your compu...

Re: My Media - Your Music and Video on the Roku DVP

Follow the instructions given in the first post of this thread.  They will ultimately lead you to this:  http://netguy204.github.io/roku_media_server/developers_preview.html There's more instructions there, but that's where you'll find the link to the code (server and client) given here again:  http...
