Re: Roku Express in reboot loop

I am using a Roku express I purchased last fall from Best Buy. It is running with supplied USB cable and power supply. The unit was unused since late May while I was away. Since I returned home at the beginning of July, the unit reboots itself about every 3 (or so) minutes. This happens no matter w...

Re: Roku Eating 1 Gig An Hour

My question to the poster is if one isn't penalized monetarily or ones bandwidth isn't capped or restricted in anyway what's the difference how much bandwidth is being consumed? I'm with Verizon and use their FIOS service and though i don't have a 4K setup they don't care how much i use. Just askin...

Re: Ultra no Longer Recognizes Micro SD Card

I had what one would call a bed micro sd card.If one rebooted the Roku the card would never let the Roku finish booting up. Take in the card out allowed the Roku to boot and work properly. To fix I just reformatted in the pc and reinserted it back into the Roku. No clue as to what went wrong. just k...

Re: YouTube Alternative for Roku 2 XS

Just get a new or used told stick. You can get YouTube at much less of a hassle than finding an alternative. You can probably find one on eBay for less than $25. If you're not willing to send a little to upgrade, I have no other suggestions. That's exactly what Roku wants. Go out and buy a new Roku...

Re: Roku Newbie here. Some questions.

1. Depending on the source, streamed 4K is usually about 15-16Mbps maximum. Back when I had Netflix, I watched a test video that showed its bitrate and resolution in real time. It would switch to 2160 (4K) at about 9 Mbps and max out at 16. Someone recently reported that they now max out at 15. I d...

Re: Roku taking up too much data

I apologize, the roku stays plugged in. Abd yes, the only device I see connected to my network is my modem and that roku. When he leaves I'm assuming it's at the home screen but I will make 100% sure some time today. I was under the impression that if you're not watching anything, then it can't be ...

Re: LATEST roku models without auto preview netflix?

Believe it or not, I have a much newer Roku, but I prefer to use my 2 XS. I mainly use it because of the fact that it has the old, much better Netflix, and it has Angry Birds. It also has the gaming remote which my other Roku doesn't have, so it's less limited with the games I can play. It's also t...

Re: Roku 2 XD... time to upgrade?

I have in my bedroom an express and it works great. Not sluggish at all and it's naturally doing wifi. My ultra in my living room works fine too with wifi. Both are connected to the 5Ghz band. Both are the latest versions. The express replaced the slow as balls 2xs model. the only thing that 2xs doe...

Re: LATEST roku models without auto preview netflix?

Right I'm with you, but that is not what my post is asking.  I have a "2xs" I believe it is, and it works fine, responsive enough for me, with no previews.  And I enjoy using it even with netflix.  So yes it is possible in 2019 to use an older roku model and still enjoy netflix without th...

Re: Plex Roku channel vs. locally attached HDD

I use Plex and it's great. I have two 2Tb and one 4Tb drives connected to the plex server. I have tons of movies , tv shows and music connected to it. I also share with atleast some 10 people. They all love it. It's easy to install the sever software and set up the server. With it you get the cover ...

Re: Any remote that you can change channels on using the keypad instead of up and down?

You can set up "Favorite Channels" which lessens the number of channels you must scroll through. Still a pain. When you say the beta comcast app are you referring to the one you can download on your phone ? If so i don't find that any faster than going back to all channels or favorite cha...

Re: Any remote that you can change channels on using the keypad instead of up and down?

On the "beta" Comcast app, I think hitting * or similar will call up a number keyboard where you can type in channel numbers by selecting them. Clunky, but Roku does not have remote codes for numbers. NO. Hitting the * key allows oen to do a search for the channel. If you use the Roku app...
