Maybe think about a dedicated server?

I'm running forked-daapd, mediacrypt UPnP server and MythTV on a QNAP TS-119 NAS device. Have many hours of OTA TV, and 15,000 or so songs and no telling how many photos served over the network to anything in my house. The QNAP is running Debian Squeeze, and isn't very thirsty - I think about 12 wat...

Furthermore, it says something about the company and the whole RadioRoku thing that having implemented it, it falls to 2 users based in Europe to provide the backbone of the support operation and maintain the database with nary a single input form Roku. oh, and the server has a habit of failing ove...

I know exactly what went wrong...

Roku redesigned their firmware to inextricably link the Soundbridge to their web site, that's what. Situations like this are precisely why I haven't loaded the new software, and why I asked Roku some time ago for a way to prevent the Soundbridge from offering me this "upgrade" permanently....

Quicker method of switching between radio and library

It's too much of a struggle to switch between a library (my mt-daapd server "FarmerJohn", f.e.) and Favorite Radio Stations. I have to touch a button to kill the visualizer, navigate out to the menu to change configuration or library, then find and select favorite radio stations, then find the stati...

A cheap three-port Ethernet hub/switch would fix that problem... Except what he said is that he wants to get rid of the ethernet cable in his bedroom. Kind of hard to do that with a wired device like the one you linked to. No, he said he wanted to reclaim the drop for use with a MythTV, implying he...

NOT a Roku bug

Have verified that this appears to be a problem with mt-daapd, not with the Soundbridge. Test: MP3s with artist names of 63, 64, 65 character lengths. Serving from iTunes (4.7 here) can Browse>Artists>Artist Name for all three MP3s. Serving from mt-daapd (0.2.1.1) can Browse>Artists>Artist Name for ...

Bug? "Can't Load Browse Data" when artist name >

I go to Browse>Artists>USSR Ministry of Culture Chamber Choir, Valery Polyansky conducting and I get "Can't load Browse Data". The same tune, selected by Browse>Song or Browse>Album works fine. I go to Browse>Artists>Russian State Symphony Capella, Valery Polyansky conducting and this tune works fin...

WPA suddenly got a whole lot more important!

Note that the new clock/radio form-factor doesn't have wired ethernet. That means that anyone who would like to purchase one but won't open the network to WEP devices on security grounds is out of luck until the rumored "software update" that is supposed to bring us WPA on 802.11b wireless. Am waiti...

Why "Play All Songs Starting With..."?

There may be a reason for this that I don't see, and I'm amenable to hearing why it has to be this way, but I find it a real annoyance: Using the remote and squinting from across the room, I finally get into Browse>Artist>Album>First Song and press "Enter" on the remote, and get a screen that says "...

I'd really like to see some hardware buttons on the device itself - if you are standing next to the hi-fi rack, it's a bit of a pain to have to walk over and find the remote to turn on the SB and start it playing. Ideally, a full set of transport and cursor controls, but as a bare minimum, a power/...

re: Howsabout Simple Standby?

Yeah you're right - I'm using the full-screen visualizer. Sounds like you're aware of the double-press issue.

Good tip about using a different key to exit the visualizer for the macro. Thanks!

Can network time help this?

Since version 2.3 now does network time, do you suppose it'd be possible in a future version to have the "Master" Soundbridge send out periodic sync packets covering what was currently supposed to be playing and what sample should be getting played back at a given instant? (i.e., if the internal clo...

Little speakers. Buttons. Table/Clock/Blaster versions.

Would like to see a version of the Soundbridge that has little speakers (which could be disabled - don't want to cost us the analog and digital outputs). Here's my reasoning: Radio is all over the place, but the Soundbridge is not. To get internet radio with the Soundbridge, you have to also have a ...
