Re: What is the point of HBO/Epix, etc...

Most people might not understand third world countries but let me give you a synopsis "Shop keeper will say if you need to purchase beef, you will need to buy a pack of envelopes",when you question the shopkeeper he will say,"I sell envelopes too,not just beef" This is brilliant,...

Re: Streaming from PC to Roku?

Plex is more feature complete, but gets progressively slower (read: frequent rebuffering) over the course of a week until I have to close and reopen it. This isn't normal behavior as far as I'm aware, and I've certainly never experienced it. You might want to investigate, or post your issue over at...

Re: master remote?

I have the same devices: TV, Roku, and Sound system. I use the Harmony 200, because I don't need all that many buttons, and would rather have a small, power efficient remote. I honestly wish it was even smaller because not having cable, I really have no need for the number pad. But, whatever, it's s...

Re: hulu vs netflix

Yeah, CBS isn't part of the Hulu conglomerate and has their own answer to online streaming episodes they call TV.com. I know there was a TV.com channel at one time that no longer is, I believe because it was requested to be pulled. You could try NowhereTV which I think has at least some of the strea...

Re: More On Consumer Education

I see at least one other issue that must be overcome: Since Roku is going world-wide, they'll eventually need to re-create the videos in the native languages of non-english-speaking countries (and canada would require french, wouldn't it?). They could just add subtitles, which wouldn't be too bad. ...

Re: $10 off now or wait?

I think I just read that you can't stream your own movies from your PC to the Roku? I thought that was the whole point of the box? Is there no XMBC on it? Can XMBC be hacked onto it? The whole point of the box is actually to stream specific internet content to your TV instead of your computer monit...

Re: More On Consumer Education

I do not believe that "most" people would use it rather I think it would sit on most folks home screen until they stumble across the way to delete it. Even those that start to watch it would quickly stop watching before it would do any good. Just speaking from my own experience, if I got ...

They should bundle those up and stream them in a Roku channel that comes pre-loaded.

Re: Roku 2 and Netflix issue

I have Roku 2 and Apple TV. I have been watching Netflix on both units for a while. Suddenly, last Friday, Netflix stopped working on Roku 2. The error said it can not load and suggest to reset it using power off and on. No matter what I do I simply can not have it to play any movie. I can access t...

Re: Can I watch the free version of Hulu with Roku

Just purchased a Roku 2 XS and am wondering if it is possible to watch the free version of Hulu. I don't want to subscribe to Hulu Plus. I just want to watch the free version. Also, if I were to subscribe to a content service (ex. Netflix, Amazon, etc.), which offers the best selection of current T...

Re: Amazon adds TV and movie titles from Magnolia

So as far as bang for the buck, Netflix is still blowing away anyone out there. Netflix is not doing anything in the way of bringing new content to streaming... Er, perhaps you've missed the announcements, but Netflix is actually creating content now. So yes, they are absolutely bringing completely...

Re: New Roku consistently dropping connection

First thing I'd do is switch the Roku and AppleTV and see if the problem follows the box. If it does, it's the Roku. If it doesn't, there may be some sort of local RF interference in the bedroom. Would it matter that other wifi products work in the bedroom? My kindle fire and 2 different iPhones an...

Re: List of Starz content to be lost on Netflix

They are leaving because Starz no longer has a contract with Netflix. Netflix offered the dough but Starz said "we would like a special Netflix / Starz package. So people know the content comes from Starz." and Netflix was like "we don't work that way" and Starz said "Goodb...

Re: What's the point of Amazon stream?

This might not be the best place to put this since it might get buried, but Amazon seems to be dabbling in original content like the other online providers. They've got a number of movies available for free right now they're calling an Amazon Studios Test Movie, and stating that they're "rough ...
