Re: Dear GOD Roku, why no local streaming?

I think that DLNA would be a nice addition. And it should be exactly in line with what it currently does. Store videos on your NAS, and play them with the Roku. Yes I know that RoksBox does it - I bought it and it works well. But it's working around the fact that Roku doesn't do DLNA. Even my phone ...

Re: Roku Xs compared the Logitech Revue

Well, I just ordered one. For $99, t seems like a deal for any techie who likes to play with this stuff. Mine is supposed to arrive today. I got an even better deal - coincidentally when the price was slashed, I got an email coupon from Logitech for a one time 50% off any purchase that expires toda...

Re: URGENT: Netflix Rate increase!

Appears Netflix is on the way out. Really? Have you seen their stock recently? Wall Street money thinks the opposite of you. Sure, people will complain, but like cable TV, few will actually cancel. Lets see what happens today after this announcement Edit - it would be interesting to see what would ...

Roku required Netflix activation AGAIN

We have been using Netflix on our 3 Roku's for months now. Suddenly last night when I tried to watch something, the Roku told me that I needed to go to Netflix.com/activate and enter the activation code which I did and it worked fine. One of the kids experienced the same thing on his (also last nigh...

Re: netflix and Verizon Fios

I have a Roku SD that was working fine with Time Warner cable. Recently switched to Verizon Wireless and I am unable to use netflix now. It tells me there is no internet connection. I have done everycommand on screen with no avail. Does Roku work with Fios or what am I doing wrong? How are you conn...

Re: roksbox -Streaming Local Media Channel Available for Tes

Can anyone tell me what needs to be done to a Synology Diskstation to get it to work with roksbox? I am running out of time and for the life of me I cannot see how to enable the diskstation to share files on a simple website or how to enter in roksbox the access credentials for the webpage (if this...

Re: With the price of Cable going up, who's cutting the cord

Not me. If the cable co's lose their revenue, they will jack up your internet rates, put in more restrictive caps with overage fees etc., and you'll wind up paying the same for less. The Roku/Netflix simply augments what I have and diversifies my choices.

Re: Netflix Streaming Movie Selection is Poor!!!

Netflix streaming has an incredible selection of indie films which are better than the majority of the garbage that Hollywood puts out. I could care less about the new Hollywood releases. Expand your minds instead of being a sheep to what ever is force fed to you! Exit Through The Gift Shop is one ...

Re: Ooma VOIP and Roku?

I have Ooma Hub (the original) in my home office, and we also have an XDS and two HDs. And Verizon FIOS 35mbit service. No problems running all at the same time, though that bandwidth can easily handle all 4 devices. Keep in mind that the Ooma requires very little bandwidth.

Re: My TV Thinks XDS is 720p Device

The box only outputs 1080p when playing a 1080p source. And in the Roku settings the 1080p display option be selected as well. This is definitely a source of confusion. The other settings output the menu in the resolution of that setting. But when you set it to 1080p, nothing happens until you play...

Re: Netflix Streaming Movie Selection is Poor!!!

I am amazed that anyone could be disappointed with the content on Netflix with the relative low price of the service. I am new to this but my husband and I already feel like kids in the candy store! I just think it could be better. The selection of streaming seems random. If they can distribute via...

The private channel did for me. You plug in your USB drive (mine was a 60gb laptop drive installed into a plastic enclosure), and the files show up on the Roku.

Re: Unable to connect to roku.com/link

I managed to get it working, finally! Yay! Anyway, in case others are having the same problem, I used a web proxy from thus list: http://www.azproxies.com/proxy-lists/secure-web-proxies.html Those are SSL proxies, which may have made the difference in allowing me to input my code. Question mark. I ...
