Re: Hulu+ is live

I noticed the clipping as well on my Sony HDTV. Not sure if there's a preference somewhere in the Hulu settings that might remedy that. The image quality was generally good and I didn't have any drops (audio or video). The commercial placement for the show I watched (first episode of "No Ordina...

Re: Remoku - A Web App for remote control of Roku Players

Pretty nice. I just tested it using by WiFi enabled Kindle 3 (it has a rudimentary webkit-based browser) and it works like a charm. Not sure how often I'll need to use it from the Kindle, but still kinda fun to see it work...

Re: Just updated to 2.8

@drofli - maybe the update was automatically pushed to you already. What version does it show in the "Player Info" screen (under "Settings" off the home screen)?

Re: spontaneous arbitrary reboots since 2.7

I'm having a similar issue. I didn't notice it until I updated to 2.8 yesterday, but I've now had two separate incidents where I've paused a video in Netflix long enough for the screensaver to kick in (using the 10 minute default screensaver timeout) and pressing a button causes the system to sponta...

@Chris - I'm not going to try to talk you down off the ledge since you're clearly upset, but take a few deep breaths and sleep on any decision before you act on it. If you find you can't pick up your Roku remote tomorrow without seething with anger, then you'll know what to do... Someone else mentio...

Re: Roku vs. Sony Bravia Internet Video

Thanks to everyone for their feedback. Pretty much aligns with my thinking as well - Roku will likely be more agile in the future, etc. I do think the Bravia's support for DLNA might be interesting to explore in the near term (until Roku's finally get that support). @Calvin - I'm sure I've been thro...

Re: HDMI HOOK UP. I need help and info.

Well, I've only had my Roku a few weeks, so I'm hardly an expert on it's various failure modes. Hopefully others will weigh in with their thoughts. I have noticed that my Roku HDMI audio (including the navigation sound effects) occasionally drops out and I have to cycle through my receiver's HDMI in...

Re: HDMI HOOK UP. I need help and info.

@Jim - What model receiver do you have? Based on your earlier posts, it sounds like you got the Roku to TV direct connection working but the receiver was an "issue" back then as well. I assume at some point between May and now you reconnected to the receiver and eventually got it working w...

Re: HDMI HOOK UP. I need help and info.

@Jim - yes, HDMI should work for both audio and video from the Roku to your receiver. Did sound come out of your TV speakers when you had the HDMI cable connected directly from the Roku to your TV? That'd be a good test to help ensure that Roku box and HDMI cable are working as expected. If the soun...

Roku vs. Sony Bravia Internet Video

Does anyone have any experience with the Sony Bravia Internet Video feature that's available on some of their TVs? I can't find a lot of details about it, but it looks like it supports Netflix streaming, Amazon VOD, and Pandora like Roku, plus something called "Crackle" that I've never hea...

Are you able to do the preview on Roku or just via your PC or game console?

Hulu+ Content

I had a quick question about Hulu+ content that I haven't seen directly addressed in any of my research. Will subscribing to Hulu+ on Roku provide access to all of content provided by Hulu or just the "premium" content flagged for Hulu+? In other words, will ordinary Hulu content be a prop...
