sorting an array?

Is there any built-in function to sort an array, or even better, an associative array on the value or key? I didn't see it in any of the docs. I'm having to use the registry to keep track of the search history since the app is specialized enough that using the global search history doesn't make sens...

Do content partners go through the channel approval process?

I only ask because for third party providers, it seems like there's a fair bit of testing of the applications. However, the Hulu+ app might be the worst Roku app I've seen so far (for 1 in 5 plays the remote becomes unresponsive and crashes the player http://www.hulu.com/discussions/8/280862/1183889...

Huge Bump. HTML entity encoding/decoding would be a big help.

Re: End of PlayDuration throws VideoRequestError

is there a lot of overhead with a small position notification interval? I'm thinking of hacking around this by checking the position more frequently (calling screen.setPositionNotificationPeriod(5) ) and then comparing it to the end of the playstart + playduration to see if they are within a certain...

Re: End of PlayDuration throws VideoRequestError

Sorry for the delayed response on this. I put the project down for a while and came back to it. The message I get is the generic "An unexpected problem (but not server timeout or HTTP error) has been detected." message. I can also confirm that if the playduration on the object is invalid, ...

Re: Inconsistent HLS playing behavior

So I think I figured out what my problem was. I was using example code from the example app (videoplayer) that is in the SDK (2.8 ). From the appVideo.brs file from that example: Function showVideoScreen(episode As Object) if type(episode) <> "roAssociativeArray" then print "invalid d...

Inconsistent HLS playing behavior

Hello all, I'm streaming a live video using HLS on the roku. Most of the time, it plays fine. But sometimes I get the generic "An unexpected problem (but not server timeout or HTTP error) has been detected. | index = -3" error. If I try to play it a couple more times right away, it plays f...

Size limit on static mp4 files?

Hello, I'm wondering if there is a size limit on the roku player when requesting static mp4 files ( I think using a range request?). Right now, I can seek up to a certain point in a stream but after that I consistently get either a reboot, or the player just hangs with a full progress bar. Thanks! -...

End of PlayDuration throws VideoRequestError

Hi there, I'm working on an app that has a large video that I break up into smaller clips. You can select to play just certain clips which are separate objects in my video array, with the playduration set to the length of the clip. However, I noticed that when the Roku gets to the end of that durati...

Tracking downloads/channel installs, app starts

Hello everyone, I was wondering if, once you submit your channel to the public market, you are able to track the total number of channel installs. If not, I was thinking of appending a device ID to the user agent in HTTP requests to my API and then checking the number of uniques. Is there a way to p...

Recent update?

Hello, I was wondering if there were any silent updates to the Roku between December 2nd and today. I had an app that was working fine, but I haven't touched it for a few weeks. All of a sudden it won't play the videos. As soon as I select the video I get "No streams were provided for playback&...

SD text is only one line on SpringboardScreen

Hello, I've been testing my app in SD mode and I've come across the following issue. On the springboard screen for a particular clip, the description only shows one line of text and then has an ellipse. In the poster screen before the springboard screen, you can see several lines of the description....

Ah that makes sense. I didn't realize there was a different implementation for Str() and toStr(). Thanks a bunch!
