Re: Firefly & Windows 7 64 bit: it suddenly disconnects

Hi - did you ever get a solution to this? I have been getting a similar problem, although not quite so severe, for some time. I have recently changed my network setup, and it has become a lot worse, so I wanted to try and fix it. I also get log entries like this: 2015-05-19 14:34:08 (5672af2d): Sess...

Re: Soundbridge needs rebooting hourly - PLEASE HELP!

Did anybody get to the bottom of this? I have had 3 soundbridges running for years, sometimes for hours at a time, with no problem. I recently installed a new M1000, by ethernet, connected to firefly, also via ethernet, via a BT Homehub 3, and I am getting this 70 minutes cutoff problem. Don't know ...

Re: General Approach to Music Server and Clients

Questions - I assume the Itunes clients and WMP clients just access the server via file system, No usage of firefly for them. Is that correct? iTunes as a host will access a server via the OS, but as a client it either needs another instance of iTunes running as a server, or something like Firefly ...

Re: General Approach to Music Server and Clients

Questions - other suggestions to backup approach, like how to prevent deletes, since I am ONLY adding files I use Syncback from 2brightsparks, which has plenty of options for different types of backup for different folders. Only problem I have found is it sometimes forgets the profiles you have set...

This works a treat now, Ron. If anyone is interested, the batch file to do it looks like this:- echo ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- >>log1.txt date /t >>log1.txt time /t >>log1.txt copy "C:\Documents and Settings\Guy\My Documents\M...

Hello Ron, Is there some documentation of the commands and responses for Firefly when you communicate with it in this way? I am getting what looks like an invalid method - the result file has a one line entry like this:- <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes&q...

Thanks, Ron. I'll give it a try when things have settled down. Some little server issues at present.

Excellent work, Ron. Been using Firefly for a year or so now, and it is the dog's bollocks. Variation on the above - I do pretty much the same thing, but I only rescan firefly whenever I have created a new itunes library. It can be unchanged for weeks. Can I add a command line instruction to the cop...

Haven't we been here before? My vote is for displaying the image file which is embedded in the music file. iTunes will insert this automatically (>= v6?) and you can change it if the default is not the one you want/like. Then VMR just needs to extract this data like the comment tag which it handles ...

Same problem here. I haven't tried power cycling just the DC - I always do it at the mains, so can't comment about that approach.

For the record, I can hear the noise on the Pink Floyd track mentioned, on my 1001. I tried creating 2 wav files of silence at 44 and 48 k to see what happens, but both of them were (nearly) silent. Strangely there was some residual noise when the files started, but the same for both files. I then c...

Depends which SB - they don't share the same power requirements. Look at the PSU and it will tell you. But be prepared. I tried to use a different PSU for my SB500 because of an instability problem with RF interference (see elsewhere), but the SB refused to boot up. I think the voltage needs to be e...

ok, I'll give this a try.

Actually, I am using a US PSU in the UK. Maybe this is contributing, but it has only started in recent months. I agree it sounds like power, not wifi.

Thanks for the suggestions.
