Re: MKV over HTTP

The 5.1 update is a step in the right direction. Thanks for working with the Plex developers on this issue. Thanks for listening to your customers. Thanks for caring enough to make it happen. Well done Roku, and keep up the great work.

Re: ROKU 3, why no flac yet?

I don't understand why the Roku 3 doesn't have Flac support, or put another way why Roku hasn't added it yet. It makes no sense considering the hardware fully supports it and there are plenty of people who would use it. I'm sure no one in the community knows but it should would be nice. I really wa...

Re: Where is the new Interface??

Well so much for a "few weeks" wait for the new interface. I learned that a few usually meant 2 or slightly more than 2 but I guess they must be using a dictionary from some other planet. The new ui is a disappointment. The grid view is nice, but it comes with a cost. Poster like ad's tha...

Re: MKV over HTTP

I want to clarify what may be a point of confusion. If Roku added support for MKV containers, that would not automatically mean that all your MKV files would play, just as our current support for MP4 does not mean every MP4 file will play. The video and audio codecs within the file also need to be ...

Re: 1080p video playback issues (USB/PLEX)

Scyber, thanks for your reply. I guess the interaction between the TV and Roku could be an issue, one I had never considered. Unfortunately, I do not have another TV for testing purposes. I've been experimenting with some new 1080p settings on the chance that my settings are the problem. I've had so...

1080p video playback issues (USB/PLEX)

Calling all Roku 2 XS owners. I own the Roku XDS and have had problems with 1080p video playback since I purchased it two years ago. Whenever I attempt to play a 1080p video, I get a snowy screen that occasionally goes to black then back to snowy. The Roku does this until it finally plays the video,...

Re: Announcing Juice for Roku - Android App and Channel

Gregg, I downloaded the android app and add the channel to my Roku. Great work, just awesome! Now, I have one question for you: How did you manage to get the Roku to play .3gp files from my Droid X? Does this app/channel combination some how trans-code on the fly? I'm guessing no, as my phone doesn'...

Re: Moving on

If they never got the rights secured for releasing them during the heyday of DVDs what makes you think they will get them for streaming? Our only hope is that as time continues to progress whoever is holding things up will eventually feel that making something is better than making nothing. I am no...

Re: Subtitles with Roksbox

I'm having this same issue with a .srt file I created with MP4Box/vobsub2srt. This is the first SRT file I've created/tried using. Help? See http://chrisolin.com/300%20(Original%20Widescreen).srt . open up your .srt file in a text editor and make sure there is only one line of white space after the...

Re: Subtitles with Roksbox

I have an mp4 movie that plays just fine with roksbox, and I have an srt file that looks completely fine. I can see edit it in notepad and the times sync up. However, when I play it through roksbox, there are no subtitles. I named the subtitle file the same as the movie (movie: Transporter 3.mp4, s...

Re: Netflix/USB

Why take it apart and waste your time? If you want XBMC, there a few stbPC kits in the $200 to $300 range that will do what you want and save you time. I have a PC set up with XBMC and I like it. When comparing the Roku to a PC with XBMC, there are pros and cons to both. PC's can play more, but the ...

Re: Roku 3.0 firmware: What's new?

well either it was just a joke to tease those always asking for crazy new features, or it was an inadvertent leak of a very hush- hush top-secret beta that hasn't actually been released yet. I am bound by NDA not to say which ;) Yeah, I get all that. You should have left it. Your use of awesome in ...
