Hey Tek,

You misunderstood me..

Keep you server down in the basement.
If you have a computer somewhere else - a laptop in your study or whatever, you can use that to send the Wake-On-Lan packet to you server, and voila..

I know that this is not the solution you want, but can't you just use another computer to send the "magic packet" to your server? I have an almost identical setup, and whenever I want to play some music, I just start the server from my "own" computer - which is almost always on w...

Dave, Thanks a lot for the replies and the help you gave. It now works perfectly again! I actually did everything, you mentioned: Deleted the songs.db Uninstalled mt-daapd Reinstalled it Installed svn-1274 Edited the conf file and let it build its database for aprox 10 mins. Then it hit me.. I wasn'...

What I'm trying to get help with, is to delete my existing installation and then doing a new and clean install.
As I'm no Linux novice/pro/expert I have almost no clue whatsoever. ;)

The last resort is to unslung it again, but that's not a fun process at all!

Firefly have stopped working apparently

Hey guys, Hope someone can help me get out of this mess: I have a NSLU2 that's running the Firefly server. Yesterday I upgraded to svn-1281. After that, it just doesn't start anymore. I remember that I by accident typed "ipkg update mt-daapd_svn-1281-1_armeb.ipk" instead of "ipkg inst...

Re: Firefly and iTunes behaviour

not elegant, but that's the best way I have found so far to do what I want to do. Thanks for the answer.. I thought it was like that - just didn't want to miss the "obvious". The alternative route would be to handle the iTunes xml database on her machine, but what it all comes down to is ...

Firefly and iTunes behaviour

Hi guys, Not sure if this is extremely off topic, but please bear with me. ;) The Firefly is running nicely on my NSLU2 - no problems there at all. My girlfriend got one of those hyped iPods :), so I had to install iTunes on her laptop. I was very pleased to see the Firefly server popup without any ...

Sorry, I'm a moron.. The NSLU2 couldn't connect to the internet because of missing DNS entries. Now the installer can complete without any problems. Sorry for that. Just one last question: I've got 2 servers. I guess, one is for mt-daapd and the other one is the Firefly? How do I remove/hide the mt-...

ipkg for dummies

Just stealing this thread.. I'm running a unslunged NSLU2 with Twonky installed on it. I downloaded the ipk file, but just don't know what to do with it.. Do I need anything else other than that single file, and can someone explain it to me how and what I should do? btw: I'm a complete Linux novice....

Just hoping someone that are using it, can enlighten me somehow.

Roku with On2Share

Hey guys, Just wondering if anyone got On2Share to work - I can't.. I have turned my firewall of completely - just to rule that one out. I have a Roku 2000 that can see the On2Share server without a problem (and can play songs from it). On2Share sees the Roku as a AV media renderer. When I try to pl...

NAS with embedded Windows XP

Hey guys. I've just stumbled across this LaCie NAS box: http://www.lacie.com/products/product.htm?pid=10647 One thing that looks fantastic, is the WinXP embedded - it should be possible to install WMC and use it as a server for my Roku. One "slight" problem is that it's nothing more than huge (and p...

Thanks for the replies guys. Grommet, yeah I've thought about the laptop solution as well.. It's a balance between using a wornout one (which I have) that has to be turned on all the time or use a new one (which I don't have) with a wake-on-LAN option. That's not an option for me then.. Risimmons, Y...
