Re: User Authentication APIs?

Thanks Jim.
None of the other links in the email work for me either.  So basically anyone with Centurylink for their ISP/DNS provider won't be able to use anything in the email due to your redirect to a non-propagating domain name.

User Authentication APIs?

In the email notice about Roku OS8, you have a link to " t.myvisualiq.net ’s server  DNS address  could not be found." Microsoft says these links are for tracking clicks from the email.  If the tracking fails because the server can't be found, then the link doesn't work to the info...

Re: CDN Host

If you are distributing content worldwide then you would probably rank a CDN host with edge servers higher - as it will allow you to mirror your content over multiple geographic locations for quicker delivery to local clients.  Generally the cheaper operations only have limited coverage (western USA...

Re: roSearchHistory replacement?

The only way to store data locally on Roku's devices is to use the registry.  That is your only option.  If you find you are running out of space then you will need to delete some of the search history.  IMO storing a couple hundred single words should not take up all of the 16 KB of space available...

Re: roSearchHistory replacement?

Saving the search terms to the server would be what Netflix does.  That way for multiple rokus and other devices each user account has their own search history available.

Re: Not getting any Push Notifications from Roku

I'm not sure why you would still be using self-signed certificates when you can get free, official certificates with an external authority to confirm security here - https://letsencrypt.org/

Re: SG Timeout on playing a video

Also, not to complicate the thread, but it still does the loud chirp/crackle/pop when unpausing, and it lags to a single frame pause (slowing down in nifty matrix mode first), and then the audio starts up again and it resumes skipping missed frames during playback.  Have you reduced the ethernet spe...

SG Timeout on playing a video

Hello, since Firmware 8.0 when my scenegraph app is told to play a video it is timing out after 30 seconds.  Does playing video need to be done in a task node now?  If I tell it to play a couple times after the initial timeout then it plays ok.  It is set up to pull from the LAN.  Firmware 7.7 didn'...

Re: Hide Retrieving bar in from video in roku

If you are wanting to hide the retrieving bar, then you might also want to hide the buffering bar as well -- however, if the video doesn't start within about 6 seconds with no activity on the screen then your app may face QA problems for those with slower internet connections.

Re: Uploading Package while app is in Approval/Submission Process

Of course it goes into the test queue.  However, partners@roku.com and our account rep has always told us if it's in the test queue and you upload multiple packages before it finishes QA they want to be told, or they could miss the updated version(s) - many many times we have been reminded that so w...

Re: Server on Roku channel

It sounds like you simply want to store a video within the channel package itself and the channel to play it?
You would do that with "file://pkg:/path/blah.mpd" for the url.  Keep in mind even on the newest rokus there is a limit to the size of the package file allowed.

Roku Firmware 8.0 HDMI playback issue

I will be streaming a video (progressive 264) and occasionally the video signal turns off and back on again.  This doesn't happen when viewing the same video in windows media player.  It happens at random, perhaps 30-45 minute intervals, FW 8.0 Roku 4200X HDMI to 1080p - not every video but it appea...

Re: Uploading Package while app is in Approval/Submission Process

When the package is actually in the testing queue, you want to be absolutely sure to notify them you uploaded a new package ASAP.  Also be sure to change the version number in the manifest or somewhere like an About screen.  Many times they have kicked back bug feedback on the older revision submiss...

Roku FW 8.0 Audio chirp issue

When unpausing a video I get a loud chirp through the speakers sometimes.  Is this normal?  It didn't used to do this on prior firmwares.  Roku 3 4200x/h264 - nothing has changed with the encoding.
