Re: Conditionally displaying a different scene

Main.brs is executed before Scenegraph starts.  If you are requiring rourltransfer while Scenegraph is active then it must be done within a task thread.

Re: Newbie Question: Roku Billing App?

You shouldn't be required to combine anything - make sure your account has billing enabled, and add the required lines for the roku billing process (channelstore) and add your prices for required items through the web interface if they haven't made custom runtime billing active yet.

Re: Execution Timeout

You will only experience a timeout if it is running in a render thread.  Timeouts are not active for the main thread or task thread.  So you may want to re-examine your code.  If the device runs slower (some models) then it will take longer to execute your routine and cause a timeout.  If you are ac...

Re: Category Leaf

First of all - if you are using sample apps make absolutely sure it is a scenegraph edition - anything older than that will be phased out and removed from the channel store at the end of the year as the older screen types are being removed from the firmware.  As for adding Leafs, you'll need to edit...

Re: What is partnerReferenceId in Web service APIs?

The partner reference ID can be any value you set on your own server for the customer transaction.  It is for your benefit, and optional.

Re: Execution Timeout

If your routine is causing a timeout, run it in a task thread instead of the render thread.

Re: RowList stacking components?

When you use ObserveField - make sure you are not telling it to observefield more than once.  Remember to unobservefield if you need to tell it to observefield again or it will fire each time in succession incrementing. in other words if you have a routine which sets observefield, each time that rou...

Re: roMessagePort posting message

I think what you're asking here is how to make the app do something?  You can use a timer, when the timer expires have it do something.  Or you can push an input into the app using External Control protocol - https://sdkdocs.roku.com/display/sdkdoc/Timer https://sdkdocs.roku.com/display/sdkdoc/Exter...

Re: Low End Device Crash during playback

Did you try the new  IgnoreStreamErrors metadata value to see if it still crashes, or just skips at 5 minutes? When set to true the media player will not stop playback when it runs into a streaming related error for this content. Instead, it will skip to the next item in the content list. If this wa...

Re: Channel Rejected

subtitleurl=invalid https://sdkdocs.roku.com/display/sdkdoc/Content+Meta-Data You can set it for the content node for the item to be played at any point before your video playback routine starts up.  Usually I would set that immediately before adding the content node into the playback queue.  If the...

Re: Channel Rejected

When your channel launches with deep linking, they would prefer the channel to automatically log in the user (if you have users log in), check if the content is free, and immediately play the content if it is already paid for or free.  Otherwise jump into the payment routine. For the CC, if you set ...

Re: Send "Push Notification" when new video uploaded on specific channel.

The only PUSH notifications Roku supports, without doing something like what I said, is for the Roku Billing system, and PUSH notifications for the Roku mobile app. https://sdkdocs.roku.com/display/sdkdoc/Web+Service+API#WebServiceAPI-PushNotifications https://support.roku.com/article/115005571967-h...

Re: RAF latency - setAdBufferScreen

Would you be able to display the buffer screen and use a timer to start the buffering bar between 0 and say 10% for a fake prebuffer to mask the delay?  I don't think RAF can go any faster than it already does.  Much like the seemingly mandatory 2-second delay before it can grab an email address fro...
