Re: Thinking of cutting the cable, help me out.

I just did this and wrote an article on my blog. http://tekpedia.net Interesting blog post - but you have a dead link when clicking on 'part 2' at the bottom of the entry for 'part 1' (I had to go back to the top of the page where the 'part 2' link is working). Thanks for the dead link post, It is ...

Re: Food For Thought, Cord Cutters

"When I turn on my TV I never have to wonder what the quality will be or if I can find the show in HD. The fact is TV is convenient, it always works and that's why so many people pay for the service each month. The same can't be said for over-the-top services and other forms of online content....

Re: USTVNow

Their website is setting off all sorts of alarms for me. It's also supposed to be only for US citizens, and only while abroad (as per the following in their registration): I am an American citizen (by birth or naturalization) and hold a United States passport or ‘Green Card’ for permanent residence...

Re: USTVNow

There are ways around the US IP issue. I found an article on a site called miniprox.com Here are the instructions: How to add the USTVNow for the Roku in the US. > > 1.) Add the channel at https://owner.roku.com/add/USTVNOW > > 2.) Go to http://miniprox.com/ (this is a proxy to sign-up for the servi...

Re: Food For Thought, Cord Cutters

Having done this 2 months ago, I must admit, sending $70 less every month to cox is great. What I have found is that instead of using the TV for background noise, I need to think about what I want to watch. Between over the air local channels and what I can get via Roku, I not sure I'm missing much....

Re: Podcast Alternative

Yes, I tried the itunes channel, I found that it was having issues playing the majority of content. Could be my connection or where the channel is hosted from. I also tried CDNTwo, but I may give this another look.
Thanks for the feedback.

Podcast Alternative

I recently tried some of the podcast channels and was very disappointed in that I want to ad my own subscriptions. I decided to take a low-tek approach. I use RoksBox to stream from my desktop. I set up a sync program (synctoy 2.1) to sync the video podcasts iTunes library to a folder on my mongoose...

Re: Why Roku needing remote placed right in front of it?

If you have a smartphone, android or iPhone, there are apps that will let you use you phone with wireless to the ip address. Not a solution, but a nice backup.

Re: Is the Roku Worth Having?

The power of the Roku is in the developer community. Again, most don't take the time to look at the private channel lineup (YouTube, JustinTV, etc.). You can find a good listing of these at: http://www.roku-channels.com/home. I have found some really great content on YouTube of late, you can see som...

Re: How to Stream your own PC?

I have been using RoksBox for about 6 months, and even though you will need to read the tutorial for setup, the features it offers is great. I would suggest you try Roksbox and the 30 day free trial. If you need help in getting it set up, Im sure there are plenty here that could and would help. Dont...
