Re: Survey: Which Rokus do you develop on?

Sure, i'd count "test" devices too. Things on which you can see the performance, resolution issues, takes screenshots on etc.

Re: ObserveField

Try this idea to distinguish between calls https://forums.roku.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=98722
Seems like a little bit of abstraction may help you.

Re: Scenegraph Layout simplification?

Half a year ago i made strides toward "more humane" way of using RSG, see https://forums.roku.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=95290&p=533285#p539269 I neither polished nor published my underlying code - but basically i confirmed a small wrapper library can be used to avoid subclassing in ...

Re: Roku Push Notifications Equivalent to IOS/Android

I am too facing the same issue. I want to enable chat functionality in my Roku app and I want to use XMMP for this. Is it possible to use XMMP within a Roku App ? i see no issue doing XMMP using its native transport (TCP) or HTTP. You will however have to implement XMMP yourself, i don't know anyon...

Re: Question: Building 'Beta' channel vs. 'Live' channel

I've got a question regarding the usage of RAF with Direct Publisher.  Using the SDK, I was able to dictate when and how many ads were shown.  I typically used the length of the video to determine how many ads to show.  It does not appear that the same control is possible using Direct Publisher.  I...

Re: Roku Audience Network Question

@insays - what if you bunch multiple mid-rolls together, won't that result in a single break with multiple ads? I.e. if the feed specifies multiple breaks a second apart... I imagine that would be suboptimal, e.g. i imagine "Ad 1 of 1" showing on top regardless which #ad is playing but sti...

Re: Direct Publisher and RAF

Does anyone know the payout schedule?  I'd assume it's monthly, do you receive an email with numbers and payout, or do you just check your Paypal account? (Nothings in there yet).  Also, anyone have any experience as to if it takes a while or not?  There is an ads agreement that was spelling out th...

Re: Close Channel

It appears that STOP behaves the same as END, the only difference being that when side-loaded, the channel will break into the debugger for a STOP. When run from a channel-store channel, STOP and END seem to behave the same way. I have a Timer in the main Scene that displays a message then calls EN...

Re: Close Channel

So you can't just use "END" in the script section of a callback?  Does that leave processes running? Putting END in a script callback function just exits the callback. It doesn't stop anything running, even the Scene it's running in - unless I misunderstand what you're saying. Good grief ...

Re: Back key not closing RSG Dialogs

Why do you need the parent's m.top? Can't you set the child's m.top.dialog to the Dialog? Because not every component has a .dialog property. Only Scene nodes have that property. And since saw elsewhere we should use only one and only scene, that means there is only one such node per RSG. His quest...

Re: Back key not closing RSG Dialogs

Everything works as expected, except the back key that does not close the dialog. And actually in the documentation there is no declared way to prevent pressing "back" from closing the dialog. Your sentences - read together - are confusing. One complains Back does not close the dialog, th...

Re: Survey: Which Rokus do you develop on?

I checked all but the top one, but I will be getting one of those hopefully soon, so maybe I should have checked it too? That's alright - we can run another poll next quarter :). phpBB survey has limits, for example once voted it does not let change reply (i had a warning on that put at first but t...

Re: If I only have HD in the manifest, do I have to provide SD, HD, and FD splash and background images?

Not sure what do you mean by "splash" and "background" image. I know the splash from the manifest - and one image (hd or fhd) should be sufficient. Currently the web portal will terrorize you to upload all posters as FHD, something that seems like a bug

I am fairly certain this is intentional - but surprised there is no runtime error.
In no event should the render thread be delayed (think hot potato).

Re: Really modal dialog

Not all, just the current thread.  This in not a fake modal dialog, but real :) This is standard behaviour for the modal dialog on traditional systems.  You don't understand - the render thread is not just any old thread. It is THE thread that draws the UI. THOU SHALT NOT hog the render thread, eve...
