Customizing the XD

I've owned a few HD1000 and currently, have a need for a customizable media player so looking at roku again. What I need is to customize an interface to a web site which in turn would be set up specifically for the device. It isn't for a public service, it's a small private service I am being asked ...

Thank you. That did the trick. I had read all the posts, btw, and had tried to figure out if my jpg's were progressive before posting my question. None of the tools on my system would tell me if they were or not. I tried Windows Explorer file properties, image viewer, Fireworks, and Firefox. So not...

Best Image Size?

Anyone know what the optimum image size is to display images on the roku HD1000? I've tried various things, the best quality seems to be 1024 high but then many of the images end up larger than the screen.

Or, is there a good image browser/slideshow player for the box?

Thanks.

Yes using Firefox on a PC vers. 1.5.0.8 In order to write the screenshot to disk, the Roku needs write access to the share hosting the web pages. Can you confirm that this is the case? If so, is there a screen.bmp file in the RokuWeb folder? It's also entirely possible that it's case sensitive, so ...

Ah, didn't notice that I had to enter the 'home' directory as well.
On firefox however, I can only see the remote so guess I'll re-read this thread for that problem next :).

Re: Anyone move on to other media player?

Hi there, >my Roku - the opposite is, in fact, true. I am just convinced, the power >supply will be taking a nose dive in my near future. Yes, I've read a lot of messages about dying power supplies. I've not looked at mine but am thinking that it cannot be that difficult to replace with something el...

Anyone move on to other media player?

I've been using this machine for years now and it's doing the job but I'm guessing that there are better toys out there now. Who has moved on to similar machines which they are finding to be much better?

I still find that I have pixelation issues with various movies too.

Howto: Mplay as main app on startup?

Can I just put the path and name of the mplay app in my rc.local file to have it start up automatically? I don't need to see anything else on the machine and can quickly change anything I need to from the command line anyhow so going directly to mplay would be a cool thing for me. Anyone else doing ...

I've been messing with the software but it turns out I already have tools to convert to ISO and such. What I need is to convert to MPEG2 and I don't see that option in this?

>When you say "uncompressed", I assume you mean no more than the >original DVD (MPEG is of course a compressed format)? Correct. Most want to compress more so that they can rip a DVD to fit on something smaller. In my case, I simply want to copy my DVD's to my media player so that I can pl...
