Re: Do you think that Network TV is “Feeling the Bern”?

"This forum isn't the place for a political debate."

Then don't make it into one. I wanted to know if there are any measurements that show whether Network TV is negatively impacted by cord cutting.

Re: Do you think that Network TV is “Feeling the Bern”?

“One way or another, they're going to get the money they want or we just won't have as much of the content we want.” Isn’t there a revenue stream created when we purchase a Netflix or Amazon subscription? Maybe it will not afford the profit margins that they are used to but - wait for it - they will...

Do you think that Network TV is “Feeling the Bern”?

Ok, so I couldn’t resist a plug for Bernie Sanders. :D I was just wondering if Network TV viewership is being negatively impacted by cord cutters. Are there any measurements on this? I can say that even when we had free access to Network TV, we never watched it primarily because of the commercials b...

Re: Comcast Stream TV

So, as I understand it, the fee for HBO is $10/month, Broadcast TV fee is $3.25, and Sports fee is $1.75 (or something like this) resulting in total is $15/month. Now the problem is that, knowing Comcast, these fees will go nowhere but up. Not only that, we hate network TV with its commercials and a...

Re: What do you miss most as a cord cutter?

I guess I miss having shows interrupted by commercials. I miss having to stay up to see the 10:00 pm show. Or having to DVR it - that was so much fun. Then I miss having to fast forward through the commercials. I miss having to fool with Comcast box and remote. I miss getting fleeced every time I op...

DNC Debate

So, I read somewhere that the Democratic National Committee debate will be available on CNN.com with no login required. Is this your understanding or do we have access it some other way?

Commercial-free channels (pay or otherwise)

So, I didn’t realize just how much I detested commercials until we started streaming video over the internet. It was really Netflix that was the game changer for us. Even when we had free access to network television, we never watched it primarily the commercials but also because the streaming alter...

Re: Rokus, surround sound, and usefulness

Just wanted to follow up with the replies to my original post. Perhaps I didn't have the Roku 1 as I indicated but and I think it predated it but I can't remember what it was called. All I remember was that I could NOT get 1080p video quality and I was not happy. That was probably my fault as I was ...

Rokus, surround sound, and usefulness

So, many years ago I started with a Roku 1 but because it couldn’t produce a picture in HD, I was forced to buy a Roku 2. That solved the picture problem but as referenced many times by myself and others in this forum, I could never get surround sound. I know, I know, the Roku just passes through wh...

Re: Newsy Update

I've also enjoyed watching Newsy occasionally. I didn't realize that floatleftinteractive was the developer. In the past, I had to delete all apps by this developer because they inserted commercials into the programming. If it happens with Newsy...I'm history.

Re: News with Brian Williams iTunes app

As I mentioned, I downloaded the Nightly News app on my android phone and wouldn't you know it: They want to stick my with commercials! Ain't gonna happen - I deleted the app. Bye Bye Brian Williams. Hello, The Young Turks and Democracy Now!

Re: Academy Awards

I subscribed to USTVNOW last year and now they require me to upgrade my account in order to proceed. I know I could view it in low res on my computer and cast the tab to the TV but it doesn't fill the screen. Any ideas on what to do now?

How are you Rokuians planning to access the Academy Awards when there is no OTA signal available?
