There's nothing seriously wrong with the Duo (I have an NV+) but the CPU is ageing & all of the new ReadyNAS's are using faster Intel CPU's instead of the custom RISC processor in the older models. When streaming video, you're always going to be susceptible to network congestion. You're using a ...

Re: SoundBridge HomeMusic Media Library Limitation?

b.t.w. the Soundbridge also refuses to work with the mt-daapd 0.2.4 (iTunes) server of the DNS-313. You have a SoundBridge made by Pinnacle. Apple did not licence the DAAP protocol to Pinnacle so Roku created the RSP protocol and had the protocol added to Firefly (mt-daapd) to get around the licenc...

As far as I can tell, the problem involves multiple disc sets. I've used the discnumber tag to numerically tag the files corresponding to each disc. I offset the track numbers of each disc. e.g. 6 tracks per disc & three discs would result in 18 tracks. disc 1 = tracks 1-6 disc 2 = tracks 7-12 ...

I wouldn't be surprised if large numbers of SB's were returned by people thinking the unit was "broken" when the real problem was multicast issues in their router.

BTW, In Australia, an M2000 was approximately $800 . No wonder they didn't sell too well.

andyg suggested trying the SB with an Ethernet cable. Your response is a bit vague & implies that you didn't actually try an Ethernet cable because the SB is connecting to the network. The reason for trying a cable is to eliminate multicast filtering by network hardware as a probable cause for y...

No the router is the same - I have two access points on the network and its the same situation with both. Care to elaborate a bit. Do you have one router (DHCP server actually) or does each AP have a DHCP server running? iTunes shared libraries & Firefly rely on multicasting for client / server...

When we advise people to open firewall ports they're mistakenly opening ports on the router.
As you've stated, there is absolutely no need to open ports on the router.

It is the computer firewall that needs the open ports
