As already noted on some other non-ROKU forums the speculation is ROKU pulled the initial 8.1 update which is why many of us have not gotten it.  Now some folks who had the original 8.1 update are reporting they've gotten a new version of the 8.1 FW.  Given ROKU says nothing about most of this FW t...

Try deleting the channel, rebooting the Roku (Do NOT skip this step) and re-add it.

It'll also be a good idea to reboot your router/modem before the Roku comes back up.

I know that's not what you want to hear, and I apologize.  There's just too many factors in streaming and local environments that can cause this particular type of issue....

It should only fit in one orientation.  I think the pins face down.  Make sure it clicks into place.  You usually have to use your fingernail to get it to go all the way in.  When it's in all the way, it will be pretty much flush with the case. -JT Seconding this. I'm querying CS to see if there are any known issues, but I'm guessing the size of the library (good God, 1800?!?) is likely the culprit.  If CS gives me any further information other than the obvious, I'll let you know. This is what CS is telling me:

What is the email address being used? Did he confirm? And in order to create a new account, he needs to use a different email address. Might also have him try on a different phone/computer, using a different internet connection.
