Re: Does anyone know how to use the Roku Web API

They mean a web server that listens for incoming http requests, just like a webform does.  You'd have an endpoint that Roku's server will hit and trigger an entry into your database, and send the response to the request. To cancel a subscription, your server would send to Roku's server the specified...

Re: What will happen with deprecated API

Going forward, there is no function that will return the same value that "GetDeviceUniqueID" returns now.  In order to transition seamlessly you'd need to be getting the current value from "GetChannelClientId" and switching them out or linking them up on your back end. I don't kn...

roRegistry    Can only be used in a Task node
roRegistrySection    Can only be used in a Task node

Is it OK practice to continue accessing the registry from the render thread?

Re: Help with Deep Linking

In your application's main.brs file you should have the first line: sub main(params = {} as object) When the app has been called via deeplink, the params (contentId, mediaType) will be passed in that params field and in your main.brs, you generally set fields on global  if params.contentId <> invali...

Re: Task subroutine

afaik you should put the sub in a separate file (eg "mySubs.brs") and include it from your task's XML; something like: <script type="text/brightscript" uri="pkg:/source/mySubs.brs" /> You could also have a subfolder of /source/ with a bunch of such subs separated out to...

Re: Task XML Blocks

My understanding (though don't hold me to it / correct me if I'm mistaken) is that the task blocks itself (because it operates on its own thread), but you could spin off 5 separate tasks asynchronously that don't block each other; use createObject in the brs / render thread to spin off new tasks of ...

Re: TargetList with 2 children acts really weird on animation

no it doesn't ignore the offscreen items, but by setting the focusIndex to 1 and 2, it will never focus on the 0 and 3 items.

Re: TargetList with 2 children acts really weird on animation

A workaround is to add two additional offscreen elements, one on each end. to the  targetRects. These offscreen elements suppress the blinking of the onscreen ones. something like: targetSet1.focusIndex = 1 ' <---- note this was bumped up to account for new element'  targetSet1.targetRects = [  { x:...

Re: Upload error

the error indicates that m.player doesn't exist yet.  Move this to your init() routine:

 m.Player = m.top.CreateChild("Player")
