Re: Channel version is different from the Store Version

My understanding is that this particular "Static Analysis" error is harmless, and can be ignored unless someone at Roku complains after the channel's package file has been submitted for approval. That said, if you still want to eliminate the error, I believe all you need to do is to match ...

Re: Roku Channel Crashing Upon Launch

Interesting... I'm usually pretty good about replying to emails about any problems. Are you sure that you sent an inquiry to help@InstantTVChannel.com? Instant TV Channel does not provide a zip file, instead you get a Pkg file that you upload to your developer account. There are numerous on-screen d...

Re: Ad Income

With a Direct Publisher channel you are allowed to  provide a single ad tag in your Roku Developer Account, the ad timing is preset by Roku, and you need to operate your own ad server (at least a few hundred dollars per month, typically more) to obtain ads from multiple sources in order to get a dec...

Re: Channel Package Update Delay?

After spending a few more days with this ongoing problem - both private AND public channels have this problem. I'm not noticing any significant difference between the two. No matter whether public/certified or private, it's been taking an hour or so after I upload a Pkg file before it's available on...

Channel Package Update Delay?

Is anyone else seeing a roughly 1 hour delay between uploading a new package file to an existing private/uncertified channel, and having the updated channel actually be updated (published) on a Roku device? Using SETTINGS-SYSTEM-SYSTEM UPDATE-CHECK NOW has no effect. There's no delay creating a bran...

Re: Updating existing published Channel

No problem. I was also wondering whether this might be a Direct Publisher channel instead of an SDK channel.

Re: Getting a .pkg file from my DP channel

Even though there's not a vanity code, the automatically-generated preview code that Baradanikto mentioned functions the same way and doesn't need to be distributed as a link. Viewer stats are all zeros for private/uncertified SDK channels too. But if you have an SDK channel you can add 3rd party st...

Re: Direct Publisher to SDK

I would be very surprised if Roku provides the Direct Publisher channel source code, as it's likely that it contains calls to internal-use-only API functions. It might even be written with the NDK instead of the SDK.

Re: Updating existing published Channel

Instant TV Channel does not have control of channel updating - instead it's done by each developer in their own Roku account. So you should be able to replace the Instant TV Channel Pkg file/code with your own. The process would be pretty much the same as when you were using Instant TV Channel.

Re: Use Own Ad Server... Question

The VAST tag/URL is not included in the Direct  Publisher feed. Instead it's configured on the "Monetization" page for the channel in your Roku Developer Account. There's a single box available to enter the URL, so you can either enter a single VAST tag, or you can provide a URL pointing a...

Re: Vimeo Pro Thumbnails

Try changing the URL to something like this: "https://i.vimeocdn.com/video/742943172_800x450.jpg?r=pad" The "800x450" is the desired image size. You can pretty much use anything that you want, but I think Direct Publisher prefers 800x450. The "?r=pad" is optional. If pr...

Direct Publisher and SDK Channel Builder System

Give Instant TV Channel a try. Evaluation channels under 10 streams are free. No programming required, building a Custom SDK channel is just as easy as building a Direct Publisher channel. Try both! Frustrated waiting for Roku to process your Direct Publisher feed every time you make a change? An S...

Re: Can I use an in-house server

Mike, Try putting http://  in front of the IP address, e.g. http://192.168.0.xxx/FF_Subdir/movie.mp4 There should be no problem streaming from a local private network Apache server as long as the Apache server is configured to support byte-range requests (I think this is included in most default con...

Re: Feed icon missing from Instant TV Channel channel menu

I'm pretty sure their support does not point to this forum, since I wrote all of the support-related pages on the Instant TV Channel website. :-) The "Feed" icon is only present if your  publishing mode is set to "Direct Publisher". You can set the mode on the Account page or on ...

Re: certification confusion

All channel names have to be unique, so it's not possible to have two channels - one private/uncertified and one public/certified - to have the same name. If you want to re-use the same name as your existing private channel, you'll need to rename the private channel. You may need to re-upload the pr...
