So glad I stopped by....

It's amazing what you can learn when you're not sure what you're looking for. After a server crash, and a HD1000 power supply rebuild, I went to start SlimRoku and couldn't get it to work - the interface would display (after about 4 minutes), and trying to bring up the menu would send it cras...

For all its abandonment issues, it still rocks!

Just echoing the comments that have already been posted. It'll do everything you've said you want to do, and more. Even though Roku left it an orphan, the user community has stepped up to the plate and extended its usefulness in all kinds of directions with 3rd party applications. I'm running the be...

Well, it finally happened...

Our HD 1000 died tonight after running almost 2 years straight. :( I'll be calling Pyramid when they open to make arrangements. So glad this forum is still around. Gee, it's awfully quiet around here now - Makes me realize I have to come up with a backup plan for accessing our music (though hopefull...

Re: Need help for a home network

First when I tried to upgrade one of the wireless laptops to 802g from 802b I ran into driver problems and it no longer is wireless which is not a problem as it still works on the cable network. Not sure what you're using for an anti-virus / firewall solution (ala Norton Internet Security), but cha...

Yes, that will keep the PB from trying to access them. I was hoping to clear them off the list altogether though. It seems like using the Clear and Rescan feature leaves anything that was manually specified in-place, which is probably desirable in most cases. In this case however, the manual shares ...

Anyone Know HowTo Clear a Manually Specified Share?

Now that I've changed my setup, my manually-specified Shares are no longer needed, but I can't seem to clear them out of the list.

Anyone know how to do this? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Thanks!

FAT32 Drives...

Turns out that when attached to the NSLU2, the 2 drives reported that they were NTFS. Now that I've re-attached them to a PC, turns out that they are FAT32, which means I may have a little less work before I'm done. I'm offloading the data from one of them so I'll have one to play with. Just thought...

NSLU2 Drive Support...

I can do the dance again if I have to. (grumble grumble) ;) Question though - If I format them as EXT, will I be able to access them from Windows PCs? Or just from another linux box (a/k/a PB)? I really want to maintain the drive's use with both platforms. If not, I've read here and there that FAT32...

NSLU2 Unslung, Not seeing USB Drives

Next step.... Today I Turbo'd the NSLU2, and applied Unslung 5.5. According to the help file, the operation was a success except... Can't see the USB drives any more. (depends how you define success, I guess). ;) Anyway, still searching the unslung wiki. Both drives are formatted NTFS drives, and we...

Using Static IP more stable, highlights other issues...

I have to say PB seems happier with the static IP. While I was waiting, downloaded and installed SlimRoku and SlimServer 6.2.1. Thank you, TheEndless, for SlimRoku! What a great application! The only thing I would have changed would be the option of making the Hide icon transparent - not sure if con...

MoodLogic and SlimServer / SlimRoku

I noticed that the install for SlimServer 6.2.1 referred to a product called Moodlogic, apparently an organizer for MP3 libraries.

http://www.moodlogic.com/

Is this something that works with SlimRoku, or would MoodLogic just cause me to dig my hole deeper?

Thanks!

File Scanning on shares....

Does PB automatically scan all shares for files? It seems to be seeing files when using the shares that PB finds on its own. However after being up for 20-30 minutes (pointed to the CF card), I checked the network shares and only a few files had been identified. As soon as clicked on the drive and l...

OK. I've changed to static IP, and it's clear this is going to be a process. Maybe I'll try rebooting a 2nd time to see if it clears some of the 'hangs' I seem to be having. For example, it saw the 2 WD drives as network shares, and they came up right away. However PB locked up shortly thereafter. R...

Newbie Observations and Questions...

Random Thoughts… I read much of the forum before deciding on the PB for my new system. Having an extensible platform, and people who are willing to devote some time to app development was a HUGE factor for me. Thanks to all of you who have written apps to breathe life into this box of potential. ...
