Audio sync on MPlay

Presumably TheEndless can answer this best, but maybe someone else can offer a suggestion... I have MPEG-2 video recorded by my JVC Everio camcorder (called .mod files, but play fine in Windows, etc, when renamed to .mpg). If I rename the files in a sequence, MPlay correctly plays them all one after...

Agreed with all above. Given the current installation of HD boxes in homes (cable/satellite), it is extremely unlikely any 1080p broadcasts are coming. Since the station would need to provide the original 1080i or 720p signal for older boxes, adding the 1080p signal would at least TRIPLE their bandw...

When I came across that news, I had a familiar pain in my stomach. As a ReplayTV owner (two, actually), and a Photobridge owner, I am conflicted. While these two products were certainly ahead of the curve (and, to some extent, still ahead of the curve), I am concerned that whatever Netflix and he co...

2007 not in clock

While my date had the correct year (maybe the Roku sets itself via a network time server), I can not manually set the year to 2007 in the control panel. I can't figure out how to use ntpdate or date commands (in /bin) to set the date in the proper format. Doesn't really matter, but has anyone got a ...

Right. Surprisingly, the quality was actually very good after the reconversion (set to max quality on the initial conversion to the ratDVD format, and no compression in DVDShrink). It is a shame there is no easy way or utility to just convert the audio, though. Let me know what you think of the pict...

For easy one-step decoding of the audio and conversion to AC3, it works fine. Seems trying to use VLC server/client to stream and convert on the fly would be more of a hassle.

I tried a test on The DaVinci Code. Took a few minutes to get the basic letters (and accented stuff) in, and then, after 40% or so, whipped through the rest. It seems you can choose the output file format, in time or frames (MPL,MacSub,Phoenix Japanese for Frames). If you can sync, even within a few...

Subtitles

Hey Endless. I know this has been a request for a long time - subtitles. I understand that the Roku API doesn't provide this, but I found this program: http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/subrip.htm While there is a bit of manual work to pull the subtitles (seems to involve a bit of OCR work), if you w...

iTV from Apple

Well, I saw some pictures from Apple's intro for the iPods and movie service. Steve demoed the iTV ($299, Q1 2007) which wirelessly connects to your Mac (?PC) to browse all your content (music, TV, movies) and can even stream movie previews from the iTunes store. I didn't catch anything about playin...

What is your recommendation for an appropriate size for the VTSThreshold tag? Now that I can put my episodic DVD's on my media server, I'm wondering what to set it to. What's the average 30min/60min show size on DVD (minus commercials, of course!)? Oh, and looking at your DVD collection in the sampl...
