The overwhelming response to my question , makes me believe, there is no WOL functionality in the Soundbridge. Right?

Wake-on-LAN ?

I thought I've read sometimes ago on this forum, that in case the Soundbridge doesn't find the server it was connected to last time, it would broadcast the magic WOL packet to wake up the server and then retry to connect to it. Tried this from my Soundbridge over WIFI and ethernet but the server did...

Soundbridge and Time Capsule (or other NAS)

I know, the Soundbridge needs a server app to work, being it iTunes, Firefly or one of the other ones supported. Well, we now have this nice Time Capsule for our backups. And it works as a simple fileserver via AFP and SMB as well. Ideal as a central storage for your music library. But you still hav...

In case it hasn't been already suggested: Smooth pixel scrolling instead of character scrolling. SB can do this as we see on the voiceover visualizer. The second line should scroll as well, in case it is too long to be displayed. Btw. the frequency analyser IMHO is still the nicest off all but unfor...

The Edirol MA-20Ds are over $200 per pair ($219.99 @ pcmall is the lowest I've seen), but they have both a toslink and a coax digital input. For that reason alone, I'm seriously considering a pair. . . Digital input for powered speakers sounds interesting, as I found it nearly impossible to find sm...

Max. Cable Length between SB and Amplifier

I probably have to connect one of my SBs with a distant amplifier. Cable length would be about 10 m. I fear analog connection could bring in just some interferences, so using digital connection might be better. What is the maximum cable length for using the digital optical / digital coax out from th...

Just to add because I find it essentially for large collections although discussed already in its own thread: Call it "Containers" or "Collections" - a kind of special treated playlists, that do not just display all songs in that "playlist" but are hierarchically browseable (Artists -> Albums -> Son...

Ulitmately this will always come down to to an subjective appreciation for music quality Often you are quite happy with what you have until you realize what you could get. Will try to compare some on a local store. But $700+ solely for an external DAC is a bit more than I want to spent. The ...

DAC internal vs. external

I'm still unsure, whether there is any significant benefit in using an external DAC instead of having SB make the DA Conversion. and just plugging it into the analog inputs of my amplifier. Can anyone outline, what the advantage is in using an external DAC and what minimal technical specification an...

Phil, I too didn't want to have my workstation running all the time just listen to my music occasionally. And even my laptop is usually out of reach, when I'm in the living room. The very first thing I've asked Roku for, was to make the SB to wake up other PCs on the network. Then I browsed the mark...

I definitely know, iTunes on Mac does this. I have my music on a FreeBSD server. iTunes works with all 3 major network protocols, afp, smb, nfs. In case your Linux Raid allows you to install additional software you could try to install mt-daapd (that's what I use) or Slimserver on that box and you d...

Hmm, no comment from Roku? :( I find the idea of parsing the playlists for special chars and then building a customized menu structure a really nice one. The idea itself is not new, a lot of tools do such kind of menu customizing on Mac or Windows. If you (Roku) do not plan to do your own SB ...
