That sounds like a lovely project. Open Source certainly should be embraced. :) Too bad I now zig about perl. But I'll try to give this a spin and report my findings. edit: Well, I've installed libxml-perl libxml-dom-perl libnet-telnet-perl And when I try to start the roku.pl I get: Global symbol &q...

You probably changed a setting on your netgear that involves multicast /anycasts, etc.

Make sure you allow multicasts on your local network, since that is how firefly/itunes communicate it's shares.

Not at all. In fact, many third party tools out there talk directly to the sqlite database.

Its better to use sqlite3 though, as there are some bugs in sqlite2 and firefly (only svn-1696 iirc) concerning locks. With sqlite3 its all fine though.

10 Minutes don't quite cut it. I just did a few tests and watched network traffic as well as the stats on the slug. The only thing I noticed is a constant increase in the IP send Q to the SoundBridge. After about 25 minutes the CPU usage of perl went > 100%. I checked the netstat, and sure enough th...

a m3u playlist is essentially a file that contains the paths and filenames of the mp3s it contains. You can create it with your favorite text editor, or with your favorite music player application. Winamp, Windows media player, foobar2000, banshee, rhythmbox are just a few examples. But the above me...

Any news on that TARIC code?

IF you don't know, it's alright, then it will be classified as MP3-Player without recording capabilities, and that would yield in 5% import customs. Which is alright I guess.

Customs should be around 5% for imports of MP3-Players into the EU.

OF course pending special regulations for RoKu. I'd like to know what the EU customs classification code (TARIC) of RoKu products is.

Awesome work, thanks for sharing!
It's working like a charm on my N810.

One question though: Would it be possible to connect to the first SoundBridge by default?

The hardware is the same, but the software isnt.
Pinnacle labeld devices will only talk to Firefly Media Server, while RoKu labeled devices will talk to iTunes as well.

My NSLU2 is serving a lot of things, but all of which are normally swapped out and idling happily ;)

I know that perl is the culprit because top tells me so. As long as the SoundBridge is turned on, it's alright, but when I _completely_ turn the unit off, perl's CPU consumption spikes.

Thanks, this is now looking awesome on my M1001 as well :) edit: On a sidenote: I turn off my soundbridge over night, but I do not turn off my NSLU2 where perl is happily hogging the CPU at around 90%, thus leaving the poor slug almost unresponsive. Isn't there a way to detect wether the soundbridge...

svn-1696 is hideous with sqlite2 on the slug!

Still, weird enough. So you are saying that via a DAAP-Share the stuff actually worked correctly, but via RCP it doesn't?

The metadata in your music files isn't set correctly.
If its mp3s, I suspect your "album" tag is empty.

Isolate one of those files and take a look at it with mp3tag, winamp or $FavoriteMetadataApp and you shall see ;)
