Why not buy a pair of Homeplug's? I use them and have never had an issue with connectivity.

Be aware that the soundbridge does not play FLAC natively. You need to use some music server software that does transcoding, usually to WAV in this case. If you're running the server on a PC this is fairly simple, just install the Firefly server and it works fine. If your music collection is on a NA...

The only BBC station that streams for me on v3.0.49 is BBC World Service. All the others just make the SoundBridge freeze.

I have a Qnap NAS server feeding my Roku. It's worth noting that these NAS devices run Linux and expect to see different naming conventions in the playlist. So whereas a Windows playlist entry may look like this: C:\My Music\ZZ Top\Greatest Hits\10 Gun Love.mp3 a Linux one should look like this: ../...

Can Roku PLEASE give us an indication of whether they're either considering or actively developing native FLAC support. I think there's enough support around this forum for this feature, which is consistently shown to be one of the highest priority requests. If it can't be done because of hardware l...

I just had a reply from QNAP tech support. They have 2 updates on the way, though no timelines given. The second of these should provide support for playlists in MT-DAAP, so it should have a fairly "Firefly-like" set of capabilities by then. They also didn't say whether users would gain a ...

Thanks again Mike. I'm afraid that until someone can package up a .exe installer for us Windows simpletons, the Linux folk have got it all to themselves. Most of us don't know know our telnets from our chmods!

Another thought Mike. Since the SB supports both AAC and ALAC, why doesn't it still deal with the high bit rate files? Is it that it's pushing the AAC files at the ALAC encoder, so they won't work?

Thanks Mike. I'm a fan of Firefly, which I was using when my music server was PC based. Now that I use a NAS device (QNAP TS-101) the main installed option is Twonkymedia. They do also provide what they call an "iTunes Server", which may even be based on Firefly if some of the user group c...

The AAC files were ripped at constant bit rate, so iTunes shows them all as exactly 320kbps on my PC. I've been using Twonkymedia to serve up the tracks, which doesn't serve up the bitrate info to the Soundbridge. However, I just tested using iTunes as the server and the AAC tracks played fine on th...

Further to this, I have some files encoded at 320kpbs in AAC format, which I ripped in iTunes v7.3.0.54. For some reason my Soundbridge M1000 (running v3.0.38) is incorrectly categorising most of these as Apple Lossless files and won't play them. Just a few are being identified correctly and will pl...

Your Lacie hard drive is also a server, so you can see the music files OK without a PC being switched on. However, I've just found out from Lacie that their Ethernet Mini disk doesn't support playlist files (e.g. M3U). This is why you, like me, can see your albums and play songs, but can't see playl...

Further to my original mail, I just changed from WiFi to a HomePlug Turbo based network (85Mbps Powerline) between music server (running Firefly build 1376), router and Soundbridge. I listened to music tracks on random selection all day yesterday without a single track skipping. It suggests to me th...

Though this thread is pretty old, I'm getting exactly the same thing happening, and it seems to be getting worse. I'm using the very latest build of Firefly for Windows, streaming MP3 files. My server is connected via wired Ethernet to my Netgear wireless router, and the Soundbridge connects to this...
