Re: Roku 4 a good choice?

My Onkyo receiver can handle anything I throw at it, including DD+ and HD-audio formats. If your AVR doesn't have HDMI, then it won't support HD-audio formats. HD formats (DTS HD MA and Dolby TrueHD) are HDMI only (Roku doesn't passthru them anyways, so no need to debate this point). DD+ only works...

Re: Roku Premiere and CBS All Access - no 5.1 sound

Like Netflix and others, not all content is in 5.1. Star Trek Discovery is, looks like even Star Trek TOS is, but the CBS Live feed is not. Older content isn't as well. Late Night tv shows look to be Stereo only. Big Bang Theory I get 5.1

Re: Which current models support IR remote?

Thanks but I don't know what that means.  Any chance you could clarify?  (Model #s would be great since the product names seem to get reused over time with different model numbers with different hardware.) He's saying if it is a "Streaming Stick" branded model, then it doesn't support IR....

Re: decades channel

I wish Decades would listen and provide us with a Roku channel. Haven't heard of a business yet that feels they have too many customers and don't need anymore. I am guessing there might be some issues with local affiliates. Most of the OTA channels have local advertising on them, so somehow they wo...

A Roku TV? No. You would be better to get one of the Roku Streaming Sticks.

Re: Want to watch my favourite shows in Canada!!

You can't get the CW channel in Canada, it is USA only. Apparently those shows are now on the Space channel? I do not know if they make a Roku Channel or not. You would have to search your channel store.

Re: Question regarding wifi remote and leased IP

The remote does not connect to your Wi-FI at all. It uses Wi-Fi direct and connects directly to the Roku. It could possibly be the Router changing channels is the issue, Roku only has one radio, so the frequency for the Wi-Fi direct and Wi-Fi channel on your router would be identical. I find it best...

Re: Hulu comes back. Why?

Likely someone is re-adding it. Do you have other Rokus on the account? Could be your are removing it, then someone is putting it back on another Roku associated with the account.

Re: Roku Ultra and Plex Buffering

Honestly, I can say I see more buffering on transcoded items (either a low quality video or a 4k video) on my Roku Ultra 4660. This is locally streamed items and I have my Roku Ultra wired. This is on both the Plex and Plex beta channels. I did on the beta channel change the transcode format to MKV ...

Re: Won't connect to 5g

Express models won't see 5G. Only 2.4. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roku#Roku_Streaming_Players

Only the "Dual-band" models listed will see the 5G,

Re: I would like to stream channels from my Roku onto my PC

trying to use HP ZR30w monitor with Roku express. Purchased DVI-HDMI, Display Port to HDMI and USB to HDMI connectors. This monitor does not have HDMI port.  Have tried all 3 and cannot get "display" to work. Roku is plugged in using one of these HDMI adapters. Monitor Power light is on, ...

Re: Bring back the Aquarium Screen saver!

Thanks for that 411.  I had the Aquarium screensaver setup, but not Aquatic Life.  I'll add it to the bug report. *edit 1*:  For the record, I'm unable to install Aquatic Life on my Roku 3 (4200).  Will see what happens tomorrow on my TV and Express. Doesn't show up on my HDMI Stick 3600 model. Jus...

Re: Bring back the Aquarium Screen saver!

The name of the Screensaver is "Aquatic Life". Mine reverted to the City Stroll as well, but then I manually installed the "Aquatic Life" screensaver from the Channel Store and set it as the screensaver. I have it working.

Re: Roku Stick not sending Dolby Digital 5.1 to TV

Also, the signal from most Channels in 5.1 are now Dolby Digital Plus (EAC3), which won't support optical regardless. The only model of Roku that got around this was the 4640 model you mentioned, which decoded and converted the signal to standard Dolby Digital (AC3) (older Receivers would work with ...
