Re: Multiple Rokus on Same Account

Okay, so you can have 2 boxes and one account. Can your household be watching 2 different programs at the same time? Even if they are both are watching the same channel, say Netflix. Well, it wouldn't be two different programs if it were the *same* channel, right?  But, yes, you can watch different...

Re: Amazon Instant channel now 1080p streaming.

The channel looks the same but when I went to watch Covert Affairs tonight I noticed it did not show 4 dots HD. It now does some kind of adaptive streaming as the PQ was sharper with less blockage as before. Also my ASUS router after the first 20 minutes reported a big spike in bandwidth usage. I'l...

Re: Channel with older TV Shows

I'm looking for a channnel with older TV shows like MASH. Can someone help? It appears the MASH TV series isn't available to stream on any device, I'm not sure why that is. M*A*S*H was on Cable TV in syndication for a long time, on either Nick, or TVLand or one of those types of channels. I don't s...

Re: Why is Roku picture lower quality than Chromecast?

Also, are you sure you're streaming 1080p content? If the titles you're comparing are in 720p, then the Chromecast is most likely streaming at the native 720p resolution, whereas the Roku would be upscaling it to 1080p, which could result in some perceived bluriness. And, as RokuMarkn mentioned in ...

Re: [Unofficial Thread] YouTube launches on Roku 3

All I watch on the YouTube channel is short tech videos from Cnet, , Gamespot, Newegg etc. I never tried to watch something longer than five minutes. I should try some of those videos on Newegg as some of them can be quite long but I don't feel like sitting thought them. Sometimes, I'll just put so...

Re: [Unofficial Thread] YouTube launches on Roku 3

Not worth it. I'll be removing those channels. I still have them from my cable package. I was hoping this might lead to more "cable trimming" but I guess not. But, perhaps, that's by design. The "big boys" don't allow it, so it forces one to maintain their expensive cable conten...

Re: History, A&E, Lifetime

They seem free.. "Unlocked episodes" meaning you have to have a subscription key thing are open view right now.. i figure this is the holiday season for this reason.. I'm a poet and don't even know it.. But it looks alright.. I mean I rarely watch these channels, could that change with th...

Re: VEVO Youtube vids

No, it appears the OP has the grandfathered legacy Youtube app and is using it on a Roku 2. Well, then, that would make sense. And, for the same reasons as you, I can't help him either. I use the Vevo channel regularly and consider it very good in quality. Have you installed/tried the Vevo channel ...

Re: VEVO Youtube vids

Haha... the original poster is using YouTube to describe the type of media not the spec website. Just like people use use the word Kleenx and mean a tissue. NO, the original poster (me) is NOT referring to Kleenex. I'm talking about YOUTUBE, which I get on my Roku2. You know, as in YOUTUBE.COM YouT...

Re: [Unofficial Thread] YouTube launches on Roku 3

The number of scan lines has only a tenuous relationship with picture quality. Encoding bitrate is also important. A poorly encoded 1080p picture can look worse than a well encoded 480p picture. --Mark I'll have to experiment further, then. I will have that opportunity, soon, as I'm overhauling my ...

Re: [Unofficial Thread] YouTube launches on Roku 3

Well, I've been testing for a day or so, now. FTR, I do searching via the "search" function on the channel itself, and not via "my account" (I don't log into mine, since it's Google   )... Also, my setup is "Wired," "Comcast Cable 15/5 with DOCSIS...

Re: [Unofficial Thread] YouTube launches on Roku 3

It has already played further that it ever had in the past. I guess the removing/re-adding combo fixed whatever was wrong. BTW: I had rebooted my Roku several times without effect on this problem but it now seems fixed. You would think I would know by now to try the remove/re-add with this kind of ...

Re: GPS on Roku

I raised this issue several months ago. It would really be nice if Rokus had built-in GPS systems (at least for those of use who want to keep our streaming legal). I am a subscriber to MLB.TV. Because of exclusivity agreements, MLB.TV does not stream the live games during the postseason. For the ga...

Re: HDMI to ANALOG converter

I need to find out what is the cheapest way to play my Roku 3 through my older Analog Sony TV (Yellow, red, white input). The fury is out of the question, and those converter boxes are pretty pricey too. Can I get something for around twenty bucks? Heck if im going to spend 50 to 100 dollars I migh...
