Re: overscan compensation?

Anyone suggesting "just go get a new TV" because a setting doesn't exist to compensate for something on it is ridiculous. Roku could implement an overscan compensation they just don't care too, they only want to design their app for the TV's being sold now and don't care about people stil...

Re: hbo on hulu

I signed up for hbo on Hulu, which i can watch on my roku device, BUT the roku search does NOT search hbo on hulu. any advice It's up to the channel developer (in this case Hulu) to permit the Roku search to work in their channel. You'd have to ask Hulu support, but don't be surprised if they say i...

Re: YouTube Alternative for Roku 2 XS

Just get a new or used told stick. You can get YouTube at much less of a hassle than finding an alternative. You can probably find one on eBay for less than $25. If you're not willing to send a little to upgrade, I have no other suggestions. That's exactly what Roku wants. Go out and buy a new Roku...

Re: Youtube App Not Displaying Full Screen Image With Composite Hookup

If the tv is HD, you should be hooking up to the tv with HD (HDMI cables), otherwise you won't get a correct display. Not sure why you'd want to hook up to an HD TV with composite cables to begin with.. if you're out of HDMI ports, you should either get an HDMI switcher, or manually swap HDMI cable...

Youtube App Not Displaying Full Screen Image With Composite Hookup

I'm having a problem on my Roku HD model 2500X units. For some reason when I hook them up with a composite connection (Red, White, Yellow inputs) and play videos on youtube it won't give me a full screen picture. I am getting a thin black border on all four sides of the image if on a 16:9 TV, and ge...

Re: LATEST roku models without auto preview netflix?

Believe it or not, I have a much newer Roku, but I prefer to use my 2 XS. I mainly use it because of the fact that it has the old, much better Netflix, and it has Angry Birds. It also has the gaming remote which my other Roku doesn't have, so it's less limited with the games I can play. It's also t...

Re: LATEST roku models without auto preview netflix?

It isn't just auto previews that are annoying. But also automatic playing of videos when you select a title to simply read the info. Pop up buttons asking you to skip recaps and intros, ratings popping on the screen to start the video which is not necessary since it's in the info itself. Then of cou...

Re: Netflix issue with 9.1

Those annoying forced auto previews by Netflix (which they won't allow the user to shut off) are reason to cancel the service without even looking at all the other annoyances built into the app.

Re: New Roku Ultra and SE stutter with 60 fps

This issue is still present, after months nobody from Roku has even bothered to reply or even look into this. When I play video files that are 576p it stutters for the entire video and will not play smoothly. Roku still has not addressed this issue, the update to OS 9.0 is what caused this because b...

Re: How to turn home page advertising off?

Ads pay for the Channel Store and Firmware upgrade service, just FYI. Yes, you paid for the Roku, but they have to support the costs of the Channel Store services somehow. Oh you mean the firmware upgrades which when released always cause bugs and problems so people are screaming "how can I ro...

Re: Roku is no longer a neutral platform after today’s Roku OS 9.1 update

These companies like Roku will never stop trying to fix what isn't broken. The home screen is perfectly fine now, if they alter it to focus on The Roku Channel which I don't use and couldn't care less about it will be a big push to make me not buy another Roku device in the future.

Re: youtube won't show full display with older tv

Older TV's have an issue called "overscan" which means at the edges there is a slight crop off of the image. Older TV programs made sure to fit all relevant video information inside this overscan cutoff point so nothing was missing, but TV's today don't have overscan anymore. Because of th...
