Re: Compiler available?

I was under the impression that the makefile was intended for linux environments, and I haven't been able to find any documentation about how to use them with the Roku beyond the limited comments in the makefiles for the SDK samples. Can they be used in a Windows dev environment? Make originated on...

Re: Compiler available?

The web page upload process can definitely be tedious, but this "tool" that one of the other developers put together makes it a lot less painful... http://forums.roku.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=30032 You can also avoid the web interface almost completely using the makefile included with...

Re: YouTube

I think the issue would be in the decoding the captions so they are vissible. Your TV reads them on Line 21 of the video signal being sent via antenna or cable. The videos viewed on youtube (that actually have captions) use a completely different format what TV's can read. They MIGHT be able to con...

Re: Problem with simplevideoplayer

Thank you Mark. I added wget so I could see what you were talking about. When I opened the file that it saved, it showed a link to a .ASF file. http://216.246.10.26/palmbeach?MSWMExt=.asf I put that link in the simplevideoplayer with format ASF and WMV and neither worked. The developer guide shows ...

Re: simplePoster problem

Hi... I'm working from the simplePoster example, and I have a small graphical glitch that I don't see how to fix. All I've done to modify the example so far is change it 2 categories, with category dependent selections. The first category has one selection. The second has 2 selections. When I navig...

Re: A USB Channel

Just purchased a Roku HD XR and attempted viewing video from a USB drive without success. The prompt tells me the box is not recognizing a USB drive. I'm using a 500GB external drive that was formatted for use with the Western Digital media player (FAT). It worked fine on that and connects fine on ...

Re: registration vs login??

One thing that i was trying to figure out is, So can would it be best for log in or registration? i want to be able to keep password sharing from happening and each account must be hooked to a Roku box. If you have control of the back end servers, which it sounds like you do, you should go with the...

Re: A Twitter Screen Saver

Cool as flower...thanks for creating this. I'd love it as a regular channel as well. Just added your weather channel too. Great Job as usual. Funny, this project started life as a normal channel, but Twitter on the TV seemed like overkill. Twitter, at least to me, is more ambient data and not somet...

I'm just wondering, how hard would it be to add a satellite map (animated or static)? That would be a really cool feature if it's practical to do.

Working on it. Also on the todo list are support for remembering multiple locations and a companion screensaver.

Bug report:

Text is clipped on right of screen. (also, FYI, "Weasher" is misspelled as "Westher" at the top)

Hope this helps...channel is quite neat.

Is that an SD TV? I tested with a box in 4:3 mode, but I don't have an actual 4:3 TV to test on.

Re: news channels?

Are there extra charges? I have heard a lot of complaints with medfly. Is there any channel that you use in the roku channel that is best for news? thanks. I'll just echo RokuPatrick and say that you should check out Roku Newscaster. It's available in the Channel Store, it's completely free, and re...

Re: In-app screensaver?

See anything obviously wrong with this code? Sub RunScreenSaver() print "screensaver" background = { Color: "#0000FF", TargetRect: { x: 0, y: 0, w: 1280, h: 720 } } text = { Text: "Screensaver", TextAttrs: { Color: "#FFFFFF", Font: "Large" }, Target...

Re: In-app screensaver?

I've also added a "RunScreenSaver()" method that currently simply consists of a "print" so I can see if it's being called. Eventually that will be replaced with code that draws an "roImageCanvas" with my custom screensaver content. If RunScreenSaver() doesn't contain a...

Re: Prevent screensaver?

Private screen savers that only activate when a certain channel is running are very possible. And it sounds like you're on the right track with the manifest and entry point. Without seeing your code or knowing in more detail what you're trying to accomplish, there isn't much more advice I can offer.
