Re: 5.1 Multichannel sound only works on one Roku

So the setups is ROKU<HDMI>TV<OPTICAL>RECEIVER -> Speakers DD+ does not transmit over Optical to your receiver, that is most likely the reason you do not have 5.1 (depending on source content) at the receiver.  Now why the Roku2 does?  I want to say I read somewhere long ago that the Roku2 converted...

Re: I will NOT be joining new ROKU Forum

I keep getting nagging messages to make sure my email matches my Roku(s) I will not COMPLY I will not have Roku doing even more SPYING on me, then selling data on me without my real consent (consent with a gun to your head). I suggest others also refuse to comply. It needs to match so they can veri...

Re: Roku unveils a new streaming player lineup, plus Roku OS 9.2 launch

Still no players with Dolby Vision. Disappointing. People keep saying this is important but I do not personally know of even one person that uses it or knows what it actually is or desires it. Those that want it seem quite assertive that it has value for them but I have never really seen any good r...

Re: DD on Youtube through my Roku enabled TCL 65R617 + getting my BT headset working

I just realized you were talking about Netflix. I do get DD/DV/HDR on Netflix. So whatever they are sending I am getting a 5.1 sound even though my AVR doesnt support DD+ I was not getting 5.1 on YT. Someone else said that YT  only sends a 2 channel output which also doesnt make a lot of sense sinc...

Re: Signing into Channels from a Browser

I hear ya there.  For some reason most companies went away from device linking using codes.

What I ended up doing is copying my password out of the password manager and then pasting it using the Android keyboard in the Roku app.  Not every app allowed me to do this, but it worked for most of them.

Re: DD on Youtube through my Roku enabled TCL 65R617 + getting my BT headset working

Thanks but i have subsequently found out that you can use the BT headphones. The problem was that i was trying to use them when i was watching the cable box and it doesnt work on that input. Once i tried and switched to Netflix or Youtube it worked fine ie the Private Listening only works on the Ro...

This all started with a user who probably entered a webpage address incorrectly. Has nothing to do with the paranoia you typed about in your other thread rep...

Re: Roku Player Still Streaming YouTube TV When TV is Off?

I live in Small Town USA and have ONE realistic option for an ISP directly tied to the phone company.  The other options have up/download limits (satellite) that are untenable for anyone with any realistic online usage.  Five options? Dang, that's not a small town, not by my standards. ClancyCat I'...

Re: Roku Player Still Streaming YouTube TV When TV is Off?

Capped data on standard isp Contracts is something that is extremely rare these days, if you are on a capped data contract, you should move to an alternative ISP ( there's plenty of choice with ISPs/phone providers)  You should be able to get a basic unlimited ADSL contract ( speeds about 12mb ) fo...

Re: Roku Eating 1 Gig An Hour

I mean, there's a lot of factors, but 1-1.5gb per hour isn't unheard of for 1080p streaming. EDIT: A little googling about Netflix.  "Medium" which is 720 is roughly .7GB/hr streaming and high is 3GB/hr of streaming.  So yeah, using netflix, going from 720 to 1080 would vastly increase you...
