Re: Roku returns to home screen after a certain amount of time

I was apparently confused by the terminology, specifically the word 'app'...   In the Roku world, they use the term "channel" where most other devices would say "app". Yes, PMS is an app (application) but it is quite different from the app/channel used on the Roku. Why Roku went...

Most routers allow you to connect to a VPN or use some sort of proxy, so wouldn't this work by allowing you to connect to a UK or US roku server?

Roku does not allow discussion of using VPN (or anything else) for circumventing geo-restrictions.

Just a guess, but I don't think Rarflix is actively supported anymore.

Re: Does New Ultra do Lossless Pass through : TrueHD, Atmos, DTS, etc?

Highly unlikely. The current Roku players have audio bitstream passthrough, but only for DD and DTS. No lossy codec is supported. I think if they had added it they would have made it perfectly clear, because we've been asking for it for years. Right now the least costly method of streaming the lossl...

Re: Hook up to surround sound

Not certain I follow. Is your Blu Ray player also your amplifier, i.e. it's a "home theater system"? If so, the only way you'll get surround sound is if the BD player has an HDMI input you can connect the Roku to. If your TV doesn't have optical out, there's no way to get the audio back to...

Re: Roku for Hospital Rooms

Yeah, my government phone uses AirWatch (now called Hub for some strange reason). Since I'm not an admin for the system, I don't know exactly how much control they can do, as I still have a lot of control of my phone. But yeah, ATV might be one option, especially if you'd like some sort of centraliz...

Re: Roku for Hospital Rooms

Unfortunately, Roku won't work the way you'd like. When attached to a Roku user account, all players will have the same channels available. Remove a channel from one and it is removed from all. Now you could certainly install only the channels desired, then use a PIN to block users from adding or re...

Re: CBS All Access, Changing Live TV station

Most devices/apps that provide access to network stations are tied to your account's address. DirecTV and Dish are the same way. For whatever reason, the networks don't want you watching stations outside your local area. With the satellite companies, if you let them know that your viewing location i...

Re: Roku Channel will not launch

Just tried my Sharp Roku TV and it started with no problem. I have 9.2 also. The usual first suggestion is to remove the channel, reboot the device (don't forget this, and that doesn't mean just powering it off) then reinstall the channel.

Yeah, Roku has never made it clear to many users that Night Mode, or any other volume modification mode, switches the output to 2 channel stereo. It's out there, but not well publicized.

Re: "Interference" option on Wireless Secret Screen?

Those hidden menus were never designed for customer use. Roku has always reserved the ability to alter or remove functions from them. Sometimes they get moved to the "normal" menus, but often they are removed. I don't believe this is something that has been moved to the settings menu, so i...

Re: Roku unveils a new streaming player lineup, plus Roku OS 9.2 launch

One thing I noticed on the new top level Ultra. Under the videos supported, they have this:  H.264/AVC (.MKV, .MP4, .MOV), H.265/HEVC (.MKV, .MP4, .MOV); VP9 (.MKV) What is suspiciously absent is H.262/MPEG-2. Since they added H.262 support over a year ago, I'm wondering if someone did a copy/paste ...

Re: Just received an email Roku is updating their forum soon

They announced this a couple of months ago. Sounds like they're about ready to deploy, so want to ensure everyone has their access set up correctly.
