Re: Internet Archive not in my region

If a channel is not authorized by the developer for your region, all you can do is to contact the channel developer and ask them to add your region to the permitted list. There's nothing Roku can do about that. And since it's a private channel, Roku officially does not offer any support for them.

Re: Overheating

I have the same problem.  The tv flashes when it overheats but it only overheats when the roku is plugged into the tv. Any idea? It's a Samsung plasma 40" also. Do you mean the Roku is connected to a USB port on the TV for power? Many TVs don't offer enough power in their USB ports to adaquite...

Re: Roku 2 Remote Died Today

Those other DLNA servers I mentioned in most cases have versions for Mac and Linux as well. So even if you used a Windows version now you could switch to a Mac and use what you are already comfortable with.  . Yes, Windows 7 support is ending soon. I think they'll be supporting Win 10 for quite some...

Re: adding roku

With multiple Roku devices, you can either have one account for all or separate accounts for each. The advantage to a single account is that installing or removing a channel from one does the same for all. But that's also a disadvantage, if you want different channels on different devices. In that c...

Re: Roku 2 Remote Died Today

Yes, please don't use Windows Media Services as your streaming source on your computer. Try Plex, Emby, Serviio, or one of the many free or low cost DLNA servers that you can download and install on a Windows PC. Windows Media is a terrible streaming source unless your videos are 100% Roku format co...

Re: Roku 2 XS (3100X) won't stream from Windows Media Player library

Yep, Plex is a great solution for many people. As I mentioned, Windows Media Services is a terrible DLNA server, so it was the cause of your problems. Glad you have a working solution.  :D

Re: YouTube app exits a live stream on its own

They come with TVs. I bought two TCL TVs last Dec. And they are the latest model so I believe it should be powerful enough. Other people have roku ultra ans they have the same issues too. Everything was working fine in the first two months. Suddenly, I got this problem so I upgrade one TV but I sti...

Re: TCL Roku TV "USB device requires more power" after 9.1.0 update, nothing plugged in

Yeah, if you don't have any USB device connected to the TV, you should never see that message. I've never seen it on my Sharp Roku TV, nor my older, smaller Insignia set. I'm inclined to believe it's a hardware issue with the TV, but if TCL won't offer any help I'm not sure what you can do. From the...

Re: Roku 2 XS (3100X) won't stream from Windows Media Player library

If all you did was recode your WTV files to MP4 without changing the video codec, the 2 XS will not play them. WTV records the video in whatever codec is used in your location, which for North America is MPEG-2. No Roku older than the fifth generation supports MPEG-2 video, and even some of that gen...

Re: Will Roku ever fix the HDCP problems?

Recently bought a Roku for the single purpose of streaming the Spectrum app so i wouldn't have to pay for another box. I have a two yr old 4K UHD LG TV & the Roku is hooked up using the HDMI cord it came with when i bought it from walmart. About 3 weeks into using the Roku i start getting the h...

Re: Roku XD 2050x 1080p, Channels & CC

Based on what another user posted in a different thread, the Netflix app on the older devices never supported captions, so there is no way to enable them,. Looking at the Wiki page that describes what each model supports, the 2050 only supports 1080p at p24 or p30. If the stream is 1080p/60, ir won'...
