Re: Channel Submission Cut-Off Date

Lately I've recommended against clients offering a Roku app because of these constant delays and lack of communication.   It's not good business for me to say "Hey that project I'm working on for you is really late because I still don't have any answers from Roku developer supp...

Re: Channel Submission Cut-Off Date

Anybody else think that's ridiculously snooty? I mean, Apple and Amazon grant themselves only 1 week between Christmas and New Year. RokuCo on the other hand? "Nah, we are good - we have made it, have nothing to compete for. Let's take a 6 week break, eh?" I'm ok with the long break.   It...

Re: Issue with thumbnails on Direct Publisher

I don't know if this is the issue, but in your example JSON, the thumbnail URLs aren't valid... they have http:/ not  http:// . Just fixed it, and nope still the same results.   That was a glitch from me changing the images to HTTP from HTTPS, thinking that might be the p...

Re: Issue with thumbnails on Direct Publisher

Spent last night working on this issue... 1)   Tried a second host to serve the images.   Same response. 2)   Downloaded the image that Roku provides in their example and put it on my server.   Same response. 3)   If I use the default thumbnail from Roku (Hosted on S3) it works fine. I'm at a total ...

Re: Issue with thumbnails on Direct Publisher

Sorry, just got sick of waiting for a response so I was testing some items out.    Even with the proper dimensions, it still has the same error.

Re: Videos appear hot or washed out?

We host a bunch of stuff on Vimeo and I've never noticed anything being hot or washed out.    Can you provide some more details?  Like the device your using, a few screenshots for reference, etc.   I'm curious to see why that would be happening.

Re: Advertising without using RAF

I'd say "RokuJoel will connect you" but he's no more with us apparently. Try jcarter@roku.com - from the  original announcement .  Yeah, I've tried that one as well.   I really have to wonder what is the point of offering an Ad service that is mandatory if you can't sign up for it...

Re: Advertising without using RAF

If only advertising@roku.com would respond to my request to be included in the Roku advertising setup, I wouldn't have to go through the headache of dealing with these 3rd party advertising companies.   7 email now with no response... not even an "Out of Office" reply. I love Roku... it's ...

Re: Advertising without using RAF

I'll leave it to developer support to give you an official answer, but I'll note that the developer blog post you referenced was in fact written by a Roku employee, not "some developer"

Thank!   I assumed that was the case, but thought I should double check before I replied.

Advertising without using RAF

I can't seem to find a solid answer about this other than on one post on the DevBlog. We were contacted by a Advertising company that specializes in OTT/IPTV.    They use their own library to deliver ads, not RAF. According to this post , RAF is required for advertising supported channels.  When I i...

Re: Issue with thumbnails on Direct Publisher

Update...   While playing around I noticed that if I use the "Preview" feature of Direct Publisher, the thumbnails are showing up properly.   However the Feed Status is still reporting the error.

Issue with thumbnails on Direct Publisher

I've been working on a plugin to add a Direct Publisher compatible JSON feed to my Wordpress installation. All is working great except I keep getting a thumbnail error:    8 items have error: Thumbnail could not be downloaded. I've checked the sizes (800x450) and I can pull them up in my browser eas...
