Re: Help, I left my remote at home when I went on holiday

All you need to do is download the Roku remote app on your phone, then you don't need your remote. Actually that will probably not work. For it to work you must be able to log onto the local network on your Roku and you cannot do that without your remote. There are some workarounds that can work li...

Re: PORNHUB DOWN

I wish someone would create a "private non certified channel" for Netflix, just a basic interface like the old one used to look like, so I can scroll in peace without preview trailers and watch videos without app pop up buttons asking to skip things and then shrinking the credits! Netflix...

Re: Battery Life on Remote

Just to add a data point to this thread: I have 2 Ultras and 2 Roku 3s in use with the two Ultras being the most heavily used. My remotes last for months, over 6 months, and my main Ultra has had the same set for 11 months and is still reporting at 33%. i do not know why I should have such good luck...

Re: Better for upstairs room- Stick+ or Ultra?

My recommendation is get an Ultra and do whatever is needed to connect it wired. Wireless works pretty good most of the time with Roku BUT wired is always better and you will get a lot fewer dropped connections or other problems that wireless introduces to the streaming equation. If you absolutly ca...

Re: Remote shortcuts

New to Roku and to PS VUE, is there a button or easy way to access the PS VUE guide from the Roku remote. I know the back button. But that only works if the guide was the last page. Otherwise I press the home button and have to launch PS VUE again, looking for a short cut.   Thx. Bob Ask the folks ...

Re: Port-Forwarding for WAN Control?

I do not really know what Lambda is but I use a Harmony Hub with my Harmony remote and that combo seems to give me full Alexa control of my Roku. As an additional benefit I also get control of my receiver, Fire TV and Shield TV. It requires no port forwarding or any "special" setup. I real...

Re: Roku TV - No Option/Setting to Use Optical Audio?

Optical output from TV into the optical input on the AVR, yes. Red light glowing from TV optical output, yes. Once plugged in to the TV, the other end of the cable glows red. I appreciate mentioning the possibility of a cap, that seems to be a common issue that's infrequently answered for other peo...

Re: Roku TV - No Option/Setting to Use Optical Audio?

I assume you are connecting an optical port on the TV to an optical port on the receiver. Are you sure the port on the TV is an output port? It may be an input for other devices that are connected to the TV. I have never had a Roku TV so I do not know what outputs are available in general but I do k...

Re: Questions About Viewing Channels

While there are some apps, such as Sling TV and several others, that are usually viewed much like over the air TV the vast majority of content that can be viewed through various Roku apps is of the "on demand" type like you find on Netflix or Hulu or that kind of app. That is you browse fo...

Re: White Dots, popping noise, screen blanking out

The symptom you describe is usually a bad cable and, since you only have an adapter in place of a cable it is probably the adapter or the port on the TV. I believe that the extension cable mentioned by Danny has a good chance of fixing the problem. Of course any decent extension cable would also be ...

No one the home menu under free streaming I went to just added and then there was porn there and I understand that if I put a pin on my kids can't buy it but the thumbnail is still an image that is so close to nudity that i don't think it would he hard for a kid to fill in the blanks for the self. ...

Not according to the Roku web site: https://www.roku.com/products/roku-express-plus

That is the "Express."

Re: Roku + Netflix questions

No. The only Roku with analog outputs (red, white, yellow RCA plugs) is the Roku Express+. The rest are HDMI only. You do need a CC on file with Roku to activate your Roku but that has nothing to do with Netflix. You simply add the Netflix app to your Roku and sign in to you Netflix account. You nev...

Re: Red Bull tv crashing

When doing the remove/reinstall process you must include a restart of your Roku else there is a LOT of data that never get reset. Try: Remove app Reboot Roku Reinstall app Report back if it continues to have problems but it then would probably be something that would need to be addressed by the Red ...

Re: emergency alerts (weather)

I know of not one person that uses steaming that does not also have and use a cell phone. Weather and other alerts, like Amber and other disasters do NOT need to be forced into streaming apps when the phones sitting on the nearby table are plenty. I do not really like texts showing up on my phone. (...
