Re: Can I disable the lower 4 buttons on the Stick remote?

It is possible to remove the contacts underneath the buttons. It involves unscrewing screw near battery slot. Then prying open the remote shell top from bottom with a smooth metal pry tool, or hobby screwdriver if you want to chance scraping the shell or damaging the circuit board. If this doesn't m...

Re: WATCHESPN app not staying activated

This was happening to me at one point across both Apple TV and Roku devices.

I believe the issue lies with some TV providers requiring authentication after a specified amount of time.
If I recall, the provider in my case was Comcast. No longer occurs with Dish.

Re: Aggravated with 4K

smh
As you well know, HDR is subservient to the gamut of the panel itself.

The lack of choice is appalling though. Seems like some sort of collusive arrangement between ISPs, manufacturers, & content providers.

Re: Aggravated with 4K

Neither Netflix, Amazon nor YouTube have resolution settings in their channels. That's they're fault. That said, there are ways to mitigate their neglect. Workarounds if you will. However there exist none in the Roku TV OS. To be fair, probably not in other TV OSes either. The Bitrate cap in the hid...

Aggravated with 4K

4K has by far been one of the most pointless technological upgrades, that is costing me more each month because the 4K streams chew through my bandwidth allotment. 1. I don't see the difference while watching TV. Highly effective for a PC monitor. 2. No way to disable 4K output on the most popular s...

Re: Netflix Repeatedly Crashing

You'll need to access Netflix via a web browser and disable 'Test participation' for each affected profile.

Re: Sharp 50" - Motion Smoothing permanently enabled

Already tried. Dusted off a Roku 3 to test. Doesn't do a thing.

Also, Game Mode is only available for HDMI inputs. The option is absent for apps run from the TV itself.

I had a 1080 TCL set before this, also without motion smoothing toggles. Difference being, the motion smoothing was off by default.

Sharp 50" - Motion Smoothing permanently enabled

Just got the Sharp 50" 4K, Black Friday deal. Crazy bad soap opera effect and no way to disable. Ruined my 007 marathon. Got 6 of them and was going to gift them out this year. What a bad mistake that would have been. Shameful that any self respecting panel manufacturer would put out a set sans...

This is bloody brilliant.
The Netflix website refuses to retain the toggle setting for Test Participation.

Big round of pause

Re: Feature Requests - Fourth Quarter 2016

If old requests need to be echoed to be considered: I think the point of including the prior requests was intended to communicate that they're aware of those issues, and are working on them if possible. The DD+/DD issue seems to come up a lot. The funny thing is, Roku themselves got their customers...

Re: Feature Requests - Fourth Quarter 2016

@Captivater. Comcast announced a 1 TB data cap per month... That is OUTSTANDING news for those people that this applies to and want to stream 4K content especially.... For a larger family or even heavier bandwidth users, 1 TB is pathetic. Comcast has been toying with nonsensical caps for years now....

Re: Feature Requests - Fourth Quarter 2016

Thanks for including "Previous Top Requests" New Request: **Cache storage** The data cap situation is going to be a sore subject in the years to come Re buffering streams is an ineffective use of bandwidth Obviously, this isn't retroactive, but something to potentially implement in future HW

Just to add something technical here:
It seems the support for the AX88772 chipset is the differentiator here.

A bit less technical:
Look for Wii Wii U support

Re: Apple Decides Not To Offer Streaming TV Service - New Plan Instead

So Google pulls off usurping the ISPs with Fiber by creating partnerships with utility pole owners and municipalities. But Apple can't spurn Comcast, assumingly the only content provider/ISP/media conglomerate bullish enough to block a move from Apple. And the FCC says Comcast's monopoly promotes in...
