Re: Comcast Anywhere testing?

And I'd bet that posting a comment on a web forum is going to get you exactly no where in this quest. Let's see who's right. Darnit. This topic is better suited for the Smackdown Hotel's Customer Satisfaction Guest Forum... go post it over there next time you get checked in.   ...

Re: Comcast Anywhere testing?

I'd bet that after all these years, there exists some direct correspondence between both companies. I'm not even gonna venture to go through Comcast's various departments only to receive a dismissive answer. Looking forward to the channel though as Comcast continues withholding and even revoking aut...

Comcast Anywhere testing?

Seeing as how this was announced back in mid-April, I'd imagine they're in late alpha/early beta.

If there is going to be a public beta for the channel; as a Comcast subscriber, I'd be interested in testing.

Re: Channels being automatically installed...WTF

As a technical person, I have zero issues with apps being auto installed...so long as they can be removed. But for someone technically inept, when this sort of flour happens, it can be a source of anguish. No worse than Comcast. So would you be ok with Dell/Lenovo/Apple etc. pushing third party sof...

Re: Channels being automatically installed...WTF

RokuShawnS stated that the "Aol News" issue was "a glitch" and the thread was pretty much locked after that. I am not convinced it was "a glitch" but that is my opinion so let's just give Roku the benefit of the doubt on that one. No comments yet on this latest unsolic...

Re: Aol News - irremovable & UNACCEPTABLE

..It's not like the icon is spying on you or even wasting bandwidth... I would counter that claim. Without having access to the source code and/or the platform's private mission, it's all speculative anyways. But beyond an advertising placement, this move may encompass or possibly sets up a broader...

Aol News - irremovable & UNACCEPTABLE

Disgusting move from Roku & Verizon Communications on the heels of a judgement against Verizon for using irremovable cookies.
Akin to Android crapware from pre-4.x days when there was no way to permanently disable processes or remove them.

What's it worth? Pennies per machine, if that.

Re: FCC Votes to "Unlock" the Cable Set Top Box

This action is nothing short of misdirection. More & more people now prefer the app model. And the ones that don't, immediately will once buying and using an "open-source" box with "apps". The most important issue for thee FCC to address is caps, rates, & accurate meterin...

Re: Roku TV hijacks asterisk button

I have a Roku 3 and a Roku TV, and I have zero issues with how the asterisk button functions on either device. I find that it is a useful button on the Roku TV and I like how it brings consistency across all apps. I'm lightly miffed somebody from the Roku team won't acknowledge this issue. Roku SHa...

Thanks. I'll forward this back over to the engineers tomorrow morning. C. Shawn Smith PS: I think this is working as intended from everything the engineers told me about the behavior. But I'll mention your concerns tomorrow morning. This is still an issue post-7.0 update. I've made a short one minu...

Re: Roku TV hijacks asterisk button

Good video, very clear problem. They could change it so that holding the * button for more than a second could be used to open the tv's menu. If this were an issue on more than one channel, then yeah what you are saying would be a superb idea presuming the Roku IR remote supports long press functio...

Re: HDCP Unauthorized. Content Disabled - Help?

It seems as though you know the answer to your question but are in state of denial. :? HDMI switches are long known to cause HDCP errors. You may wish to try a different switch from Amazon, eBay, or AliExpress but they could very well be prone to the same problem. Alternatively, you could upgrade to...
