Re: Looks like 7.0 firmware is rolling out

Roku 7.0 went through a months-long beta testing (a family member was part of this) but, from what I'm reading, the testing on the older devices didn't catch all the major issues. Agreed the update shouldn't have been pushed to the older units. There's no effort to expend if the unit is declared EO...

Yeah, 7.0 will completely fix it, provided they don't change anything in the networking stack from here until they release it to the public.

Glad to hear it [will be] working

Re: New Roku TV and can't watch anything.

Please see the following about a Roku service issue. http://forums.roku.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=91116. If you are having trouble registering the RokuTV, you could for now use it in unconnected mode. First you will need to do a factory reset, and then follow the instructions through the setup, ...

Re: New Roku TV and can't watch anything.

Just got back to her tv. Yes it has an input button. But it does not do anything. Just makes a bong noise every time I push it. The TV refuses to let me out of the registration process and I still can't change the flour input to HDMI. ARRRRRRRRGH!!!!! Complete the registration process. It's a one-t...

Re: NHL app and TCL Roku TV

Was this issue resolved? I am experiencing the same thing with my TCL Roku TV and the NHL App. I have a Roku 3 in another room and the NHL app for that device works fine. I believe the position they're taking is... Is this issue occurring in on 7.0? While OS 7.0 has yet to reach the RokuTVs, fixing...

Re: Picked up an SE, did I get a lemon?

I'm still not happy about looking into what the problem is with my webcam channel. I have to decide real soon whether I keep one of these SEs and return the RokuTV I got, keep using my old TV with an SE, or return everything and keep using my 25+ yr old CRT with my tried and true N1000 (by far the ...

Re: New Roku User, a couple ?'s...

Yeah. It sucks they got rid of Syfy rather than evolve it as Syfy Now. Syfy is owned by NBC Universal who is turn owned by Comcast who in turn has a current 1/3 - soon to be 1/4 - share in Hulu. Takeaway: Buy a Hulu subscription = access Syfy shows. Your remote's batteries are draining because the r...

Re: Roku TV upgrades?

Roku sells the manufacturer a turnkey smart TV solution. Regular software updates are part of the appeal. Google gives Android source away free of charge. The more companies involved, the more convoluted terms get. Given that the internals are more or less locked down - comparatively - it's a just ...

Re: LG HDTV Owners - Passing Dolby Digital Via Optical

The point was made earlier in the thread that perhaps the difference was that the inclusion of smart apps also provided a DD+/DD license for the audio chipset on my LG. Or, it could just be a newer audio chipset in my set (and other LG's). There is a specific Dolby audio chipset for TVs that decode...

Re: LG HDTV Owners - Passing Dolby Digital Via Optical

I'm lost? :) What were you trying to do with your AVR? 8) It's so old, it lacks HDMI ports. Switching inputs on both the TV and receiver is a pain. So by using the TVs optical out (w/ 5.1 passthrough), problem solved... Not! Yes, it has smart apps. Much as I'd suspected. Smart TVs w/ internet servi...

Re: LG HDTV Owners - Passing Dolby Digital Via Optical

Basically, there are two versions of DD+. My AVR has the older version. When I try to play a title in DD+ I get scratchy, distorted sound in my center speaker. The newer version, which is built in to the current AVR's(from 2012 or so) is the one Netflix uses. O now you tell me. I spent a few hours ...

Re: LG HDTV Owners - Passing Dolby Digital Via Optical

After trying to find a remote to access the service menu, I decided why not make my own for free? So, I used the old hack-aroo scheme found here > http://forum.coolshrimpmodz.com/forum/other/electronic-modding/101-lg-tv-hidden-service-menu I got an IR LED from and old remote, attached the ends to a...

Re: NHL app and TCL Roku TV

Do the sync issues occur on other channels? They do not, just the NHL app. How many games has this occurred for? If only one, then perhaps it was a bad feed. If the issue is reoccurring, it would be a good idea to capture video and share a link. It will help the programmers, both Roku and NHL, to b...
