Re: Roku 4 only outputs stereo

Sounds aggravating. A few questions... The system menus only output in PCM. Additionally, some channels only output in PCM. Which specific channels are you experiencing issues with? Also, some receivers will reject DD or 5.1 signal if only two speakers are connected. How many speakers do you have co...

Re: Wierd little bug?

Sorry to say I can't reproduce.

Although, it is an interesting find.
From a functionality standpoint, it appears to be a relatively minor issue.
However minor things can sometimes affect other stuff.

Last night my older Roku 3 updated to the new software and it now exhibits the same symptom so the issue is not device dependent but rather it seems to be a problem with the new firmware.

As I said before it is not serious but it is noticeable and an irritant.

Roku TV upgrades?

Will the 2015 TCL Roku TVs will be receiving the 7.0 upgrade? Is there an additional hurdle for the licensed TVs sort of akin to how Mobile Carriers block android updates for phones? In other words, since the TV manufacturer is the warrantor, do they need to give approval on updates before they are ...

Re: Time to Scrub the Channel Store

Rather than leaving this tedious chore up to users, why not request confirmation of continued commitment to channels directly from developers? Mass message all developers with active channels (surely, you guys have emails attached to each dev account) Emails would ideally contain a link to confirm t...

LG Roku TV... Wow!

Anybody see that coming?
Is WebOS throwing in the towel?

Granted the LG sets are not their crème de la crème. But it's somewhat ominous for WebOS.

Re: Looks like 7.0 firmware is rolling out

I want to stay with the Roku family of devices, but at this point the competing devices are looking pretty good. If you feel the need to switch players, by all means, exploring the available options is mostly encouraged throughout life. For frame of reference, I traded my Xbox One in back during De...

Re: Looks like 7.0 firmware is rolling out

... With 6.2 my Roku's are working great so I have no problems waiting for a stable version of 7 to come to my Roku's but how Roku communicates with us is my biggest beef with them. Yep. "What we have here is a failure to communicate." What a bunch of of nonsense? 343 Industries posts wee...

Re: Looks like 7.0 firmware is rolling out

Funny the "secrecy" stance of Roku on this subject. Not even a simple announcement of a delay to address bug issues is even to consider. As a consumer and Roku supporter, I get angrier and more disappointed by "silent treatment" than transparency. We/I would respect them more an...

Re: Roku TV hijacks asterisk button

Thanks. I'll forward this back over to the engineers tomorrow morning. Also noteworthy, within Netflix, the codec information can also be toggled once backing out of the content you are playing, but again during a brief window. So say House of Cards is playing. Then, after pressing the <- button: W...

Re: Roku TV hijacks asterisk button

Speaking with one of the engineers, he said that in Amazon for example, the asterisk was only for Closed Captioning, which (on the Roku TV) is available via the TV's asterisk menu. This is the expected function & how my Roku 3 interprets a press of the * button. TCL Roku TV 40FS3850 (OS 6.2.367...

Re: Roku TV hijacks asterisk button

I'll only bump this thread once...

Understand the 7.0 rollout is ongoing which entails pouring over metrics...
But...
Even if its triaged low priority,
Could I please get an acknowledgement on this issue?

Thanks.

Roku TV hijacks asterisk button

I recently purchased one of the 2015 TCL Roku TVs. I'm having a problem whereby when trying to use the Asterisk button during playback inside certain channels (Netflix,Youtube), the TV hijacks that button for bringing up the TV's quick-menu (Picture Settings, Sleep Timer, etc.). I tried using the Ro...
