Re: caching behavior of roUrlTransfer

Are you hosting your JSON files on a CDN? I am and any change I make can take up to 8 hours to propagate depending on my cache-control settings for that file. The CDN wont request a new core copy until the cache setting is expired. Doesn't sound like it since your browser is pulling correctly, but a...

Re: Current stats on models in use?

Now I'm confused by the result being potentially vague to begin with, the result from GetModel being maybe suddenly vague, the answers using the two calls being different to the same question from the same box, and the fact that everybody seems unsure. A lot of confusion around such a simple functio...

Re: Websockets?

Oh i see. I was asking specifically about "WebSocket" standard (RFC 6455 Yeah, my bad, I read that as sockets, so many people interchange the terms web and net that I jumped in the wrong direction. Sorry about that... It seems amazing the degree you had to bend backwards for M3U8. Can't R...

Re: Current stats on models in use?

Didn't know those gave 2 different answers. I would think that two calls that both return the model number would return the same number...

Re: Websockets?

So you are saying taking care of the "frames" in ws:// is not that scary? I can run with that. I didn't take care of it. Once we decided to do our own webservices, and more importantly that they would never be directly open to the public, but only used by our apps (Roku, C#, PHP, and so o...

Re: Websockets?

The reason I had to do that was VimeoPro (using Akamai) requires a bunch of security cookies for video playback, our videos are an intro, the main video, and a extro concatenated into a single HLS stream, each has its own distinct cookies, and there is no way to send 3 sets on an HLS master. We didn...

Re: Escaping from a Play All loop

I log a lot to the console, especially during channel launch and have never had a problem with it interfering, unless I dump details during large loops (thousands of iterations), the system still works but it does have a performance impact then. The Roku Ad Framework also logs a tremendous amount of...

Lol, I wish it was all that, when I get a moment I'll organize some of the code into more readable and explainable segments then post it.

Re: Websockets?

I use the roStreamSocket class when I do those, async calls with send and receive loops and a listener when using the Roku as a webserver (again for HLS), it's not simple and a small snippet code, but it does work once you get used to the class.

Re: Current stats on models in use?

I see "everything" except 4210 and 4230 (newest Roku 2 and 3), which surprises me a bit that they're not at least some tiny percentage. Is it possible they are somehow getting lumped into the 4200s? Might be, as I haven't received a hit on any of those, when my channel loads I get a track...

Re: Websockets?

I use them heavily in BRS, both as a requester to my own APIs on Azure, and as a web server to deliver some custom HLS needs to the app, where the box is both a producer and consumer.

Had a request for some stats from our launch, so here goes: 4200x ... 39.3% 3500x ... 14.1% 3100x ... 9.6% 3050x ... 8.7% 2720x ... 8.6% 2710x ... 7.6% 2500x ... 5.4% 5000x ... 2.1% 2400x ... 1.8% 3000x ... 0.9% 3400x ... 0.7% 2450x ... 0.7% 2700x ... 0.4% 3420x ... 0.1% We do request 6.1 of the fir...

Makes me realize how easy I've had it having joined the rokudev world well after 3.1 (actually right at 6.1).

Re: Getting channel's ID, how? [answer: roAppInfo.getID()]

Congrats on getting published (8/11), btw! Ha! 51 channels published on 8/13. FIFTY ONE. In one day. Really?! Thanks, we got to spend like a day and a half visible on the new list. Watching historically I told them it would be a week visible, then 2 to 3 on the list, but seems that changed suddenly...

Re: Brightscript Build Problem?? Missing Manifest?? Help!

First common question: Did you zip your directory (your zip file contains one item, the directory), or the contents of the directory (your zip file contains a source directory, an images directory?, and a file named manifest). If you did the former like I first did and several others from what I hav...
