Re: Roku device charles set up

IIRC, you can put your Roku into a packet tracing mode, which creates a cycle of (3 in think) output files than can be read into wireshark as a history file which will parse and display them in complete detail.

Re: Deep Linking field

If it helps heres a small code snippet of mine, and it works fine for me Sub RunUserInterface(Args as Dynamic) ...startup code, splash screen, initializing data, tables, arrays, and so on... if (Args<>Invalid and Args.contentID<>Invalid) ' Probably overkill to do both checks, but works Episode=m.Tab...

Re: Using the NDK

TheEndless, with all the channels you have created, you still use BrightScript exclusively right? Am a C# (essentially Pascal) programmer, so not interested in a C++ platform personally, but was just curious.

Re: Channel Updates

That all makes sense, but I didn't know they implemented rolling updates, which again makes sense. Was just a thought on an edge case that I figured I'd throw out to get others take on it. Enterr, not many people would have heard of SSP (IBM System/34 OS) or 1401 Autocoder, joys of having been in th...

Re: Channel Updates

I knew Roku couldn't solve this, was more curious about what other people have done. As far as the overengineering, the Roku is one part of a much bigger puzzle here, and, much like my dev setup ( http://forums.roku.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=86102 ) seems excessive, it makes much more sense when ...

Re: Channel Updates

Yeah, Since the Roku data is pretty static (other than user data), I have my web services do data dumps onto a single serialized agrregate data file every 15 minutes, along with associated serialized detail files on movies (cast, etc) that the Roku reads via simple http and deserializes. The dumps a...

Channel Updates

In the case we have a channel update, which of course has to go through Roku approval, and is released once approved, what if that update involves a schema change in our backend database web services? We cant make the change early, we cant make the change the exactly moment the new channel goes live...

Re: App freezes when network unplugged

Instead of, but similar to, the printon setting, I use this and it works ok for me... In my startup code... m.Timer=CreateObject("roTimeSpan") m.Timer.Mark() m.Development = CreateObject("roAppInfo").IsDev() And a routine in my global routines Sub Trace(Value as string) if m.Deve...

Re: Youtube API use within BrightScript

You can use the API freely, using roURLTransfer, but the API doesn't play videos, it pretty much does everything but. It's possible to play a video directly off a YouTube feed (even tho not the base URL), but since you would be able to play any video at that point, I still think it a terms issue.

Re: Youtube API use within BrightScript

If I'm not mistaken that would be a violation of YouTube terms, and so wouldn't clear the Roku channel review. I could definitely be wrong though and would welcome correction, as we could certainly find uses for this too. Your title said API, which usually is for your own videos - if the videos are ...

Re: Range Requests

Yes, it uses the same name for its security cookies, and to pull all three videos (intro, primary, and extro) it's 3 distinct values, messed with it a bit, trying to send them on the same m3u8 call, and couldn't get it to work. As far as downloading the files to tmp, they total about 3mb, I look for...

Range Requests

Will range requests be issued for 4-6 second TS files? That's the question, here's some background if it helps... We are hosting off Video Pro, which means Akamai, and they use cookies to secure playback, which have to stored and sent to get m3u8s and for playback since they cross domains. I also au...

Re: Error Codes

Thanks, being a Windows programmer I didn't think of that, checked the WinErr codes but they're 5 digit so didn't match, should have thought of Linux.

Error Codes

Am working on an area of my code using roStreamSocket, and in one spot am getting error 32 (have also seen a 104) on Send (using Status()). Where can I get a list of these codes and what they actually mean, I've looked in the docs either I've missed them or they're not listed.
