Re: RowList itemFocused and rowItemFocused[0]

⋅ rowItemFocused[0] contains the index of the row in focus. rowItemFocused[1] contains the index to the focused item in that previous row. ⋅ itemFocused contains the index of the item focused.  Theoretically rowItemFocused[1] would be the same as itemFocused, but it depends on t...

Issue Playing HD Video

I have a VideoPlayer node which I'm trying to play a video in.  I'm able to get the 360p version to play, but not the 720p or 1080p version. The other versions just sit at the loading screen. Has anyone seen similar issues or might have an idea? I'm playing this on a Roku Stick, on 1080p display. Th...

Re: hasfocus() bug?

Thanks for the help. I was able to get it working by the following, below.  It appears if the button is a child of the miniKeyboard, which it was, it's tracked by the "focusedChild" item.     if press then         'm.searchBtn.setFocus(true)         if (key = "down") and (m.miniK...

Re: YouTube App Performance

You may be disappointed to here Youtube, Netflix, and a couple other major channels are not even using the Brightscript development language. They use Roku's Secret Development Kit which is not available to the general public.

Re: Manage many project in single project with same scene graph code and different resources

While your description is a little unclear, with scene graph you are able to share resources across different components.  For example, say you have a foobar.xml and you want to share fonts.brs across components. You can pull in fonts.brs and all components using this can share the same functions, s...

hasfocus() bug?

I'm creating a search component and as a user moves off the miniKeyboard, I want the focus to move to a Submit button. I'm finding that some widgets are not responding to "hasFocus()" even though setFocus(true) works fine. It's important to note this function doesn't come back as invalid.....

roSearchHistory replacement?

I've been using roSearchHistory component to save searches for users. Moving forward with SG, this will be  deprecated. What's the recommended path forward to store search keywords? Storing in a registry variable maybe? Registry data storage is limited, so not sure if this is a viable solution. ...

Re: Gaussian blur on background images

Hey! You're on to something with the loadHeight / loadWidth. I tried this and went down to an extremely low percentage, results look pretty good. loadwidth = 1% of original = 12.8 loadheight = 1% of original = 7.2 https://image.ibb.co/mR61AG/IMG_5769.jpg Not enough? loadwidth = 0.07% of original = 8...

Re: Gaussian blur on background images

I found PLEX Roku app is doing a nice Gaussian blur on its images during slideshows. The closest I can come is the second image below.  Does anyone have an idea how PLEX is doing this? It looks really cool, but i can't figure it out.    PLEX ROKU APP. https://image.ibb.co/c8D6qG/IMG_5765.jpg MY APP ...

Re: Downloading images to tmp

I was having issues with GetToFile() as well. I did the AsyncGetToFile as I was thinking this would move the download to the background vs. having to wait. Is this not the correct thinking? Figured out I was missing:  msg = wait(0, port).  Once I added this, the download was successful. This all see...

Downloading images to tmp

To reduce latency, I'm looking to pre-cache images used in a Poster node.  When trying to write to tmp:/ it shows the filename with a ".tmp" extension and then disappears. I assume this means the file is not downloading properly..  Any idea what the issue could be? From my screen: (this lo...

Re: Global Array Variable in Screengraph

Thanks for the replies. This new screengraph programming is going to kill me with nuances like this. @tim_beynart -- i used your suggestion and it worked.    testArray=createObject("roArray", 0, true)   testArray.Push("testing_123")   m.global.addFields( {accessToken: []} )      ...

Global Array Variable in Screengraph

I'm trying to set some m.global values in an array, but the push command is not setting anything.  What am I missing? Following is in main.brs m.global = screen.getGlobalNode() m.global.addFields( {accessToken: []} ) m.global.accessToken.Push("testing_123") print "Array Count: ";...
