Re: LATEST roku models without auto preview netflix?

Yeah, my Roku 1 (2710) has the old Netflix but it's basically the same specs as the 2 XS like trekkeriii said, just a bit more memory, I wouldn't recommend getting it.

Re: DVR for Roku?

Well, from that site it looks like they argue it's fair use since you already paid to see the content and that does make sense, that plus embedding personal info in the file to keep people from uploading it I guess is enough to pass muster with the courts.

Re: DVR for Roku?

It sounds like Playon mainly records OTA stuff and anything not OTA can't be viewed until it's no longer on whatever streaming service it was taken from.

Re: Plex Roku channel vs. locally attached HDD

I use my routers dlna and RMP for watching my media throughout the house and actually prefer it to Plex, yeah the interface is nowhere as nice, but it's much faster, works great and the router is always on so I never have to deal with any problems waking up my Plex server (although I really can't re...

Re: Roku TV flashing black screen

I appreciate you taking time to respond, Yes, I understand that things break.  I'm looking to see if anyone has any thoughts other than, "I guess it broke" or "you get what you pay for".  For example, if this is a common occurrence, I can still take back 4 of my TV's and purchas...

Re: Activation scam

When the 4 letter code didn't work, I got a note on my IPad (which I was using to try to activate the ROKU) from "roku.activates-online.com". I'm wondering how the popup appeared. It's not like a spam site would hijack your internet connection just in case they see that you're trying to a...

Re: Activation scam

I doubt he bothered with a virus, if you allowed him remote access he most likely has all the personal info he needs, you should really change all your passwords and keep an eye on credit cards and bank statements.

Re: HBO Subscription through Direct TV (HBO Go) and Roku Streaming

I have an HBO subscription through my Direct TV account. Is there a way to use this through Roku? (The default login goes to HBO Now - which is not the same). I might be misunderstanding, but you should be able to install HBO GO on your Roku and sign in with your Direct TV credentials, HBO Now is a...

Re: TV flickering from Roku home screen to static and back

Mine does this too occasionally, someone on another thread with the same problem said that changing hdmi cables fixed it for them so you might give that a try and unplug/plug back in as Tonya G suggested after you connect the new cable. I haven't gotten around to trying a new cable with mine yet.

Re: Roku Express 3900 on/off issue

Is my device possibly defective if It doesnt stay powered on and I have to unplug and plug back in to get it to turn on? Rokus go to sleep just like your computer and you should be able to wake it up just by pressing any button on the remote, if that's not working and your Roku isn't waking up with...

Re: Refurbished

Agree with Elijah_Baley, I buy almost all my electronics refurbed, if there's any damage it's usually just some small ding or scuff or something, just cosmetic, and usually there's no damage at all. As to your question, if it was pre-owned the box most likely wouldn't have shrink wrap or plastic/cel...

Re: Error 001

If you've already reset the tv and it won't connect directly with an ethernet cable there's probably something wrong with the tv hardware, the only suggestion I can think of is to bypass the router if possible and connect the tv directly to the modem and see if it works, if it doesn't then there's m...

Re: Roku App wants to open movie on Netflix Android App

Fwiw that's the same behavior I see on my iPhone, meaning I search a movie on the Roku app, select it, select Netflix from viewing options and I'm then sent to the Netflix app on my phone, so I'm guessing it's a Netflix policy rather than a Roku policy. Thanks ghb51!   I'm glad this is not just me!...
