New Forum Request

I'm sure there are many here with little or no Linux experience who would like some help in navigating around this new universe. What I'd like to see is a forum set up so that people can help one another with their Linux problems. I started out way back in the day at the Dos prompt and then moved on...

Are there certain types of JPG that the ROKU can't read? One of the cover arts I downloaded for the few DVD's I ripped was a progressive JPG and as Marcelo said that won't work. You can use a program like Irfanview to make the conversion. Load the picture into Irfanview and then do a "Save As" and ...

Sven, I just installed SDesk the other day and it looks very promising so far. One thing I did notice that I thought was odd is that I have a couple ripped DVD's and they are showing up in My Pictures instead of My Videos. I'm guessing because it's seeing the "folder.jpg" cover art in the folders fo...

Sorry, I posted this in another Mplay thread and was asked to post it here. My 2nd DVD that I ripped has 1 audio dropout that is repeatable. The audio partially drops out when it (Sideways) goes from chapter 24 to chapter 25. There are a couple sounds that come through during a short stretch right t...

You are correct there is a 100K limitation on cover art size. Try a program called ifranview. It allows you to lower the resolution very easily and do tons of other stuff. It is the only program I use for basic image work. It is free Just a thought here. I don't know how well known that lmiit is, a...

Yeah, that's why I said a shot in the dark. My 2nd DVD that I ripped has 1 audio dropout that is repeatable. The audio partially drops out when it (Sideways) goes from chapter 24 to chapter 25. There are a couple sounds that come through during a short stretch right there and the audio comes back af...

A total shot in the dark here, but given that a copy will play while the original won't I'm wondering if it may be a file fragmentation issue?

Am I doing something wrong, or is it a limitation that it won't show a cover art if the filesize is over about 100k? I ripped my first DVD last night and put a cover art for it that I found online. The cover art was huge (1484x1000) and about 486k. I tried every naming convention I could think of an...

Ok, what the heck is an SC 200? I googled it and the only things popping up were a Uniden Scanner and some janitorial product.

There is a definite problem with MPlay and 2.0.17. My first trouble experience with MPlay. I can watch a program for 10 minutes and then it just stops with the picture frozen. I reboot (only solution) and fast forward to scene where it froze and then play and in almost exactly 10 minutes, it freeze...

Looks like I'm going to have to do a bit of research. I know I've seen the information here on the forums. Whait I'd ideally like to do is be able to download something (i.e. newest version of Mplay) via the PC and then copy it to the CF card in the Roku with Graphical Telnet. 2nd best option would ...

Barry, Where do I look on the Roku for the read/write permissions for the memory cards? I'm getting error messages returned from bash saying that the device (my CF and SD cards) are read only. That looks like the only thing holding me up right now. I think I got the paths set right in the ini file o...

Barry,

I just sent you an Email, but just wanted to say here that I too have been wanting a graphical telnet to make file operations much easier.

I hope the recovery from surgery is quick! Thanks for this program!
