Re: Has anybody had issues submitting updates recently?

I have not seen official announcement but it is possible parts of the old portal (owner.roku.com) were dismantled a week or two ago.
Try using developer.roku.com ?

Re: rsgNode & Task

I looked over the wiki pages again and it appears nodes created within a task node are unable to be exported outside the task node?  I'm not sure if I read that right.  I wasn't able to use interface fields of a task node's xml if they were objects :(  This makes sense as they don't want some objec...

Re: rsgNode & Task

Makes perfect sense. I believe you answered my question in that making the node global or defining it in its own xml. Since the post I kept working around and was able to pass only the needed info to the task. All of my rsgnodes are defined in a single xml file, probably not great way to do it but ...

Re: RAF doesn't clear ad when back button pressed during ad

BTW I found the documentation for RAF a little confusing. It's hard to tell what applies to SSAI and what applies to client side ads. Yes, the SSAI was the road less traveled till recently - kudos to you for persevering over unclarities and making it work! We could certainly improve by publishing e...

Re: ContentNode is missing artist by default :(

Also I see "genre" was renamed to "categories" but "categories" is listed twice in the sdk page, once as an array and once as a string? I myself was perplexed about `Categories` being dual-typed - and while that can fly in SDK1 (duck typing!), RSG is rather narrow-mind...

Re: Parsing JSON v XML

And no, it's not doing these in a task because the task execution priority is way too slow at 6+ seconds to do this same thing.  The task does the download, and thread 2 does the parsing.  The threads don't time out if you're parsing fewer than 350 items with xml, or fewer than 500 or so items with...

Re: Parsing JSON v XML

Parsing 208 content items.  XML takes 1.4749, JSON takes 0.3996, so about 4 times faster to use json.  In actual operation it's the difference between an execution timeout with about 330 items, and successfully parsing 500+ items without a timeout (2 seconds vs 5+ seconds). I have to admit, the pro...

Re: ObserveField

Parsing the content as JSON appears to be twice as fast as parsing XML.  It is a big change to the server code to switch existing feeds over to json, but the payoff is worth it.  I'll need to run some profiling now to determine optimization which will require two sets of server code to compare with...

Re: Is there way to copy an object instead of creating a reference?

I am just saying with all these ways to do it, since the roku has say, 50mb or 70mb of ram available for the channel to use, and the channel package size is limited to 4mb or it won't pass certification, there should be an allowance made to duplicate your 10MB or so of json/xml data and graphics in...

Re: Is there way to copy an object instead of creating a reference?

Since you insist on doing it this way, deep copies of a single level of data are required to work around the problem. Do you mean a 1-level-deep (aka "shallow") copy by any chance? Not sarcasm, i am trying to follow your explanation. If so, there is more elegant / idiomatic way of doing ...

I have no ready-made answer to this but... any chance that listening on "state" field could be of help?

Re: Is there way to copy an object instead of creating a reference?

Interesting "fix" :) I suppose the code profiler should be enabled to see which way is quicker - formatting json and decoding from json, or simply typing the lines to create and copy the fields. Keep me posted on your findings :) But seriously, you shouldn't be getting yourself into situa...

Re: Is there way to copy an object instead of creating a reference?

For my money, adding such "feature" is undesirable - its danger is people don't realize how deep copy they are making - not to mention this cannot be done well/easy if the structure has cycles (pointer loops) in it. Something that makes B/S work hard (e.g. deep copy of complex structures) ...

Is there any ETA on the new version of RAF? As all the 'workarounds' are not do-able for us unfortunately.

A fix for this is under testing. It should be available "soon" but i cannot provide an ETA.
