I am using an NSLU2 (unslung) running Firefly, my router is a Speedtouch 780WL (running firmware 6.1.4.3V4 - latest from UK ISP Be* Unlimited). It all works ok usually, however one thing I have noticed is that when the number of instances of Firefly running on the 'slug' reach a certain point it st...

Not running itunes. Yup, windows (xp). 1) Firewall has exception for firefly.exe There should be an exception for the bonjour as well... if there isn't that would be your culprit. reinstalling bonjour for windows would be a solution -- it should set upt he firewall exclusions on install. Also, just...

hi everyone, funny thing, I turned a few switches, clicked some buttons on my router and magic! - suddenly everything works fine. No disconnections, no rebuffering wonderful. I have not the slightest idea WHAT I did but I guess I was simply lucky. Might be that I did something with multicast-prefer...

Running a Dlink DGL-4300 and a soundbridge M1000, connected wirelessly. The firefly server appears to be up and running correctly, yet the soundbridge won't see it at all. M1000 running latest firmware. DGL 4300 running latest firmware. RIP / Multicast enabled. Anything I can try? I'm assuming this...

Re: Firefly Media Server

I am on a windows PC (XP) running Firefly V1.0 as prompted by the Roku web pages. The 1.1b has a fix for sometimes failing to register the rsp service. So that might be one thing, and the link for that is in the sticky at the top of this forum. It is wireless, but the problem can happen througout t...

Ron, thanks for your help. Now I downgraded and it 's just like before. I think it's more a router issue. I heard particularly about my Zyxel Router of disconnection-problems. I also tried turning WPA at my router off. It worked at least for a longer time than before. I currently bid for another ro...

Re: Failing to connect to Firefly Server

I am a novice to this, but have recently been given an M1001 and am generally pleased with it. Internet Radio works consistently, however, without changing firewall settings or moving or changing anything around I am frequently (more often than not) getting a "failed to connect to Firefly medi...

Now I set rescan to 0 but then it didn't work at all. The server is shown in iTunes and all songs are shown but it doesn't play. It simply say 'opening connection' but nothing happens. I tried to install an earlier version but it says that I can't downgrade. Since I have no idea how to remove the n...

E.G. route add -net 239.0.0.0 netmask 255.0.0.0 ra0 multicast is 224.0.0.0/4 Specifically, mdns uses 224.0.0.251. This should dump all multicast out of the wireless device, which the router should push across the wireless segment to the soundbridge (I believe the problem the router is having is in ...

I'll have to take a look creating a simple open source Java server for Roku if I have the time. The one hard part would be getting good sample code to parse headers for all of the supported file formats. I'd like to help with mt-daap but the crudeness of C and the quirks of C++ make pastime coding ...

I have the following config: - Soundbridge M1000, fw 3.0.44 - Asus WL-500gP with OpenWRT (White Russian 0.9) running mt-daapd 2.4 - Ubuntu 7.10 workstation running Firefly svn-1586 The following combos work great: - Soundbridge streaming internet radio - Soundbridge client connected to Ubuntu/Firef...

Re: iTunes 7.5 compatibility problems?

Soundbridge 3.0.44. mt-daapd 0.2.4.1 on NSLU2 (unslung) I recently upgraded to iTunes 7.5 (from 7.4). I haven't specifically seen this, and I'm not really sure if this is an issue on the firefly side or the soundbridge side. I guess the key issue would be if it plays from iTunes using the same aac ...

All of this is immaterial, however, as my NSLU2 has just binned itself. Completely inaccessible web admin page, doesn't respond to pings, and doing the hard IP reset has no effect. My budget NAS media server solution will have to go back to the drawing board for the immediate future! :( Oof. Sorry ...

Thanks, I'll try that build as soon as I get home. Though I am worried that my linksys simply messes up multicast, as I said I've tried everything that others recomended in other threads before posting. It's a shame that a daap server has to rely on multicast when it really shouldn't need it _if_ t...
