Re: Original Roku 3 interfering with computer screen

Shooting from the hip, I think I have an idea what might be going on.  I want to blame HDCP because it is developed by the Intel and I mostly enjoy blaming them. However, you are light on details and it would be nice to better understand the configuration before attempting to troubleshoot. What mode...

Re: Ultraviolet shutting down July 31st, 2019

. I am hoping that at some point UV will also work out a deal with Amazon for an option to link UV movies into Amazon accounts. UV is shutting down, which is the point of this thread. No more deals to be made. From the UV website: "...  UltraViolet and retailers will be working together to max...

Re: Ultraviolet shutting down July 31st, 2019

I just linked my UV account to my VUDU account so some of my UV library is now provided by VUDU.  As an added bonus, I can now watch those movie on Roku.  On the downside, VUDU seems to have decided that all my UV movies should be only provided in standard definition despite VUDU have HD versions of...

Re: roku media player support Cyrillic?

If you build your own Roku Channel then you can package a different TrueType Font into the channel. It would be nice if the Roku channels could allow for the selection of TTF files from the USB drive but it looks like that currently isn't an option.  If Roku does choose to extend the typography API ...

Re: Those Pesky Lower Four Remote Buttons

Can we at least make the HBO NOW button a little more intelligent?   If I have HBO Go channel installed because I'm already paying for HBO through a cable provider, then I am not going to also pay for HBO NOW.  If I ever uninstall HBO Go, I am fine with it reverting to encouraging me to install the ...

Re: Cable-cutters be advised:

Like a lot of other people, I gave cable the boot due to it's rapacious business practices, and instead purchased a Roku streaming device.  Was quite happy with it, until I started running into channels like "The History Channel," and now "NatGeo," that won't play unless you tel...

Re: [Official] 2018 Fall Launch - Roku Premiere/Premiere+ Feedback

I replace my Roku 3 with the Ultra as thr 3 could not support YouTube TV app. After a few days I started to see the HDCP error screen. Tried the usual steps but it still occurred. A forum post suggested updating the firmware to v 9.0.0 This removed the error but now the screen blinks black every fe...

Re: [Official] Roku OS 8.2

We are using HLS multi-bitrate streams hosted by Cloudflare. Cloudflare supports both HLS and MPEG-DASH.  Out of curiosity, has you tried pointing the tester tool to the DASH stream. The DASH sample URL for the same video seems to be:  https://videodelivery.net/a38818fb7de31928f4203250a6650c78/mani...

Re: [Official] Roku OS 8.2

Consumer Reports posted an article which I read to indicate there would be changes to block ECP in Roku OS 8.2 and 9.0.  The article titled "Samsung Fixes a Smart TV Security Problem Prompted by Consumer Reports' Findings" was mostly targeting Samsung smart TVs but also brought up Roku has...

Re: Different Episodes on diffent Roku's

Installing a channel on any device on the same Roku account will install that same channel on all the devices.  However, authenticating a subscription on one device does *NOT* carry over to other devices. So, if you install FXNOW channel on the Roku Stick then it will also appear on the TV in the Li...

Re: [Official] 2018 Fall Launch - Roku Premiere/Premiere+ Feedback

I agree that 5 GHz is preferable for wireless connections, but it isn't a requirement for the device to be 802.11 AC. Roku has had dual band wireless all the way back in a few of their first generation boxes (these new players will be 7th generation). Even with what you can buy today, the Streaming...

Re: [Official] 2018 Fall Launch - Roku Premiere/Premiere+ Feedback

Update: It looks like a Roku employee also clarified that the remote is RF while I was writing this. " Voice remote with TV power & volume" is the same description as what comes with the Roku Streaming Stick and Roku Streaming Stick+.  The streaming sticks are hidden behind the TV and ...

Re: [Official] 2018 Fall Launch - Roku Premiere/Premiere+ Feedback

Roku's recycling of product names makes it really hard to provide a recommendation to novices. When someone advocating to get a specific 7th generation Roku product needs to also specify to make sure it isn't the 2016 models or to avoid model 4620/4630 then there is just all sorts of needless confus...

Re: I'm buying a new Roku device and I have a question?

I have more than one Roku on the same network so I find it helpful to update the Name/Location under the Roku account. The only reason to unlink a Roku is if you plan to sell or give it to someone else.  Otherwise, as long as you still physically in possession of a Roku, I would recommend not unlink...

Re: Roku Express Can't connect to password protected Wifi Network

Were you able to confirm the ASUS AP is on the latest firmware version?

Can you check the wifi security settings to make sure it is set to WPA2-Personal and AES?

How many curved bars of signal are highlighted in the roku network scan?
