Re: Comcast better get a clue fast!

This is going to be a huge deal for Comcast customers (including the soon to be absorbed TW customers)! There is a 42 page thread on Comcast's own forums going back to 2011 discussing the inability to activate the Roku HBO GO channel for Comcast subscribers [1]. By looking at http://www.hbogo.com/ac...

Re: Roku Remote for Google Chrome

Thank you for everyone that is interested in this project. Currently, the type of functionality we would like to have is not possible. The example web pages that have been created so far operate blind and do not get any feedback from the Roku. To address this, the Roku web server needs to support so...

Re: Remote ECP Comments

Re-bump. I have updated my Roku to version 2.9 (build 1553) and still am not getting any CORS support from the Roku. I think it might be possible that our request is too vague. Currently, the Roku returns HTTP headers of: HTTP/1.1 200 OK Content-Length: 0 Server: Roku UPnP/1.0 MiniUPnPd/1.4 What we ...

Re: Roku Won't Join WiFi Without the Remote

There are several things that Roku could do to greatly improve the customer experience regarding Wifi and remote control use of the Roku: 1) Keep more than one Wifi configuration profile and automatically use any Wifi with a matching SSID in any of the saved profiles. For example, the Nintendo Wii k...

Re: Remote ECP Comments

Considering that Roku is still an IPv4 only device, it seems realistic to ask the user to look-up the address that is assigned to it via the Settings menu and then provide it the remote control application. Hence, lack of access to SSDP is currently is not much of an issue. Even if Roku where to sup...

Re: Roku Remote for Google Chrome

I have updated the web page:
- Buttons can optionally be resized
- Optional Search web keyboard is provided (may help with tablet use)

The web page still uses AJAX which means that it still only works with Webkit based browsers such as Google Chrome.

Re: Internet-capable Blu-Ray player or 2nd Roku?

My biggest problem with Blu-Ray is that with each update of BD+ encryption it seems to extend the amount of time it takes to load the BD+ disk. My DVD player will start-up playing brand new DVDs just as quickly as any old DVDs, but the latest Disney/PIXAR movie on BluRay can take almost a minute to ...

Re: Error Message: Can't Connect to Your Local Network

Your Access Point might be running on a congested frequency. Try changing the channel of the AP between 1, 11 or 6 and see which works best. Most APs already default to 6 so it tends to be the most congested. It would be nice if the Roku switched to using ARP based pings instead of ICMP. If your acc...

Re: Has Roku every considered and exchange program?

From what I have read on the forum, other people have been able to revive their seemingly broken Roku just by replacing the power supply. An exchange program would be nice. Not just for non-functional units but for ones that people are upgrading from. Given how anti-environment the tech industry is ...

Re: Channel Request: Web Browser

If you are trying to use a public Wifi with the Roku, you might want to consider using Internet Connection Sharing (ICS). Depending on if your laptop has MDI-X auto-switching, you may need to get a cross-over ethernet cable. Then run the ethernet cable between the Roku and the laptop. Rather than ha...

Re: Channel Request: Web Browser

There are two types of "web browser" like channels you could expect to see in the future on the Roku: 1) RSS readers 2) Preprocessed snapshots of a web browser The first type is already available to some extent via the FrameChannel. However, I don't like their method since it only provide ...

Re: Roku Remote for Google Chrome

Crow550: That would be great but these vendors need to meet us half way. I avoided CSS in my lay-out but ended up with Wekbit specific Javascript. Remoku supports more web browsers but still has the base requirement of needing iframe support and CSS for layout. Given that Nintendo likes to license O...

Re: Roku Remote for Google Chrome

Yeah, a more formal issue tracker would be nice, but it's been my experience that they're pretty responsive to developers and the community in general. Speaking of which, would you be ok with me setting up a google code site for the merged project? I'm finding the need to implement some kind of ver...

MojaMike: That is very cool. It is great when applications are intrinsically multi-platform by nature of the framework chosen. gonzotek: Your reasoning for going simplified BSD makes sense for this project. I have re-released under the same exact license. I choose the keyboard mapping based on the f...

Re: ROKU Customer Service - Where Are you???

Is it the Roku itself producing the "Unsupported Audio" messages or some other device? What device(s) are you plugging the Roku into? I noticed problems with some HDMI switches that use power off of the HDMI signal instead of a power adapter. If you have an HDMI switch or audio receiver be...
