Re: First thoughts on Alexa for Roku skill

It took some time, but I got the Roku skill for Alexa set up today. Some issues with my Sharp Roku TV:  The default language of "Alexa, open Hulu on Roku" didn't work for me, because my TV was called "Bedroom". I have an outlet for a lamp called "Bedroom" as well, so I...

Re: Prime Video - No Forced Subtitles

Thanks for checking. Interesting that forced subs are working on the TCL but not on my Ultra.  I set Captions to On Replay but that didn't help. White Dragon is not available in my region (Canada). Your Ultra is running v9.0.0, likely build 4142 (or later). Is your TCL running 9.0, or is it still r...

Re: Prime Video - No Forced Subtitles

Here are 2: Jack Ryan Ep. 1 12:30, The Widow Ep. 1 first scene. Watch on  an  iPad or in a browser and then on a Roku and you'll see that the forced subtitles are missing in the Roku. I've just started using Prime on the Roku so The  Widow is the first program where I've run into this. The problem ...

Re: Prime Video - No Forced Subtitles

The Prime Video app is not playing forced subtitles (subtitles for foreign language audio in English programs).  Anyone else seeing this problem?  Has anyone found a solution?  I'm able to turn on close captioning but that's not a solution. I just want subtitles when the language isn't English. Whe...

Roku made Home Screen Themes free. Not sure about screensavers.

Re: TCL 55S517 Included Remote Upgrade Question

You may have to do some investigation on your TCL 55S517.  I have a TCL 55P605 which did not ship with an enhanced remote ; therefore the enhanced functions for pairing were hidden.  I paired the enhanced voice remote from a Roku 3 with my TCL 55P605.  You have to enable full UI support for the enh...

Re: Why does no Roku streaming device include Gigabit Ethernet?

FYI. Turning on streaming info on the Netflix internal app on a 4K Roku enabled TV shows that a 1080p stream hits 3.32 Mbps and produces a quality buffer-free stream. A 4K and/or 4K Dolby Vision stream tops out at 15.26 Mbps of bandwidth. Other streaming apps will differ, but Netflix has worked a l...

Re: Why does no Roku streaming device include Gigabit Ethernet?

Because even local 4k streaming won't saturate a 100mb connection.  Why spend the extra money for something none of your users are going to need. Exactly. I'm streaming buffer-free 1080P with a 7.5mbps connection. I'm told I could be doing the same with 4K at around 18mbps. It'll be many years, if ...

Re: Pausing live tv on Xfinity Instant TV Beta

Someone on the Xfinity forums posted that it is not possible to have the feature to pause live tv on the Roku app because there is no "memory" buffer on the Roku.   Does that sound like a valid answer ? That does sound valid. The only PAUSE LIVE TV configuration I am aware of is with a Ro...

Re: I can't program the remote's TV power and volume buttons with the TCL Roku TV software

The TCL 55R615 TV included a weak IR remote that barely works with a soundbar placed in front of it. I paired the TV with a different Roku remote, but the TCL Roku TV settings do not include an option for "setup remote for TV control." How am I suppose to program the TV volume and power b...

Re: Why no TCM?

I'd be thrilled with an actual TCM app; either paid or validated.  I get TCM on Directv Now; but on the companion app for my tablet, it's so much better. Two live feeds; a searchable list of movies with a large rotating catalogue each month. I finally have a nice big screen TV and want to watch the...

Re: Roku OS 9 / Dolby fail?

I can also confirm that the volume leveling feature is the culprit! As soon as it’s off, 5.1 is restored! Good catch! It is noted on their Support page for Volume Modes it is available only in Stereo. Didn't know that selecting it would change your Audio settings. How do I use volume modes on my Ro...

Re: [Official] OS 9 Release Notes

That makes sense for NIGHT LISTENING. Kill the center, surround and sub channels and create a more focused but lower volume listening mode. Not sure how that helps for someone with 5.1 audio that just wants Volume Leveling functionality.

Re: Acorn Film Short

I remember watching a film last year. A person is being interviewed and there is a timer on--30 seconds, 60 seconds, ??? I thought the title was something similar to how long the film was. At the end, I can't remember if the person dies or not...they have to make a choice or confess or something. S...

Re: [Official] OS 9 Release Notes

Yes, I mean in regards to the audio features. My Premiere+ 4630 (2016 model) has the 9.0 update already. No matter which app I press the * key in, there is no "Advanced sound settings" menu as Roku claims there should be in this article . That also means that the "Night listening&quo...
