Are other programs and/or other channels out of sync too, or is it just that one program?
If you play the first episode of the program again, is it in or out of sync?

Roku doesn't agree with you. Idiot-proofing as much as possible is what Roku does best.
They design the device for use by 6 year olds and 80 year old grannys.

After the initial Roku signup, just delete the CC info. from your account. I haven't had a CC on my account for years.

No channel requires the use of an SD card, and as noted, most users won't need one at all.
If you have more than a hundred or so channels installed, you may want to consider using a card, but even then you don't really have to.

Here's the workaround for long TuneIn buffering. It works every time for me:

Up Arrow (return to the station button)
Select (press button and return to the station screen. Control now says "Pause", as if it is playing, but I can't hear anything)
Select Pause
Select Resume

^ Delete the channel, reboot the box, reinstall the channel is the recommend sequence.

^Most any USB Ethernet dongle that doesn't require a driver will work with any Roku TV.

so you know what your getting. I'd stay away from first generation boxes. Many newer channels won't run on them, and Roku no longer supports them.
